I was under the impression that cinema needn't be an intilectual enterprise. I watch movies to amuse myself, I do not go to them wondering if Aragorn's acsencion to the throne in Return of the King was possible in a legal stance, perhaps his claim must be verified in real life. Also, I think directors try to make too many movies for those of a superior mind. What happened to good ol' action like Commando and Tango and Cash? Oh and uss, ive never seen anime, but your list of titles looks very... intriging.

Yeah, well, they're very flavorous.

NGE is about human flaw and the depths of human emotion. Cowboy Bebop is the most stilish show ever, featuring world-class jazz music and a good variety of genres. Hellsing is about a vampire-killing organization and ultimately about showing how far the protagonist, Alucard's(who is actually ..) power goes. Trigun is about a superhuman sharpshooter in a post-apocalyptic world. Escaflowne is about the protagonist girl going to an alternate dimension and the lost race who inhabited the legendary Atlantis(great sword-fighting). Azumanga Daioh is a cute comedy about life in school. Angel Sanctuary is about a boy who finds out that he's the reincarnation of an archangel that defied God. Noir is about the prophecy of an assassin duo. Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai is a satirical comedy about a girl and a boy planewalking(lots of pop culture references). Berserk is a medieval horror action about a man's rise to power. Ima, Soko Ni Iru Boku(Now and Then, Here and There) is about a boy who goes to an anti-utopic future.
