Hey Azurewolf (cool sig by the way),

You misread what I was saying - I said I was 16 or 17 years older (ie than when Magician first came out). I am actually 37 - not ready for a zimmer frame just yet though. Did you say 3 hours, for the entire 800 pages of the Magician (ie both volumes if you live in the states??) - impressive if that's what you meant. I will be nipping in to the shops tomorrow, so will keep my eyes peeled for some Salvatore.

Cheers

I think the serpentwar saga was way better then the riftwar saga.

I'd have to say Feist, though I've only read "Daughter of the Empire", and that was a collaboration with Janny Wurts. I like Salvatore's D&D novels (haven't tried his other stuff), but Drizzt is turning into a plaster saint. And I =hate= the Big Villain's dead, wait, no he's not! schtick...

I have never read Salvatore (nor have I actually heard of him/her), but I have read heaps of Feist's books. I am currently reading "Krondor: The Betrayal".
I am really enjoying it (by the way, did anyone play the game?)

I read the riftwar saga, but not the serpentwar series, so I can't add to that debate, except to say that I really enjoyed the riftwar series.

The game rocked. It is amazing how closely the book follows it. I played the game about a year before reading the book, and the book was still good. They use most of the dialog from the game in the book.

that sounds really good! I just finished the book this morning, and it looks as thought I am going to have to chase up the game now. either that or just read the second book in the series.
