This is an obvious question I should have asked, but do you have Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster installed already? TotL is a download that you can get. If you don't have them installed, then there is an XP cap that will allow you to get to around 14th level. The maximum level is somewhat determined by the number of character classes you have in your party.

Ex. A half-elf Fighter/Mage/Thief could be your only character, but everytime you complete something, you'll still have to divide the XP between the three classes, the same as if you had three characters one of which was a Fighter, the other a Mage etc.

With HoW and TotL installed, the amount of XP you can earn goes up (as does the maximum level you can obtain).

However, the difficulty setting you play on affects the XP you receive for defeating opponents and completing sections of the game. Try it. You'll see.

Lord B, i don't have HoW or TotL. Do you know where i can download them?
I didn't think the difficulty would make much difference. I left it on its original settings, i haven't touched any of that side of things on the game.

So the XP's are divided amongst the players; all my players are fighters apart from one specialist mage (necromanist), when things are completed. The more XP's a player gets, the higher the level. Right! I think I get it now.

The answer to your first question can be found on this post, and Fileplanet is here.

I bought HoW with my version of IWD. Do you have a decent internet connection, as TotL is a bit beefy for a 56klick modem?

To your other question: the XP is divided amongst your character's classes. So with five fighters and one mage that's six. Thus, divide all XP accrued by six.

And will somebody please reply to my post! I've s*dded up IWD again (only twice this week) messing about with item creation/conversion.

Sorry Lord B that no one's replying to your post!! " "

That's because the last time i checked we were the only ones on this forum. I don't know the answer to you question because i don't know what a "mind blank" is?

I found the post you mentioned after i asked that STUPID question. I'll wait till i move into my own house and use my own computer before downloading that file but thanx for the Link. Its broadband so it should be beefy enough.

What does the HoW actually do? exactly? Sorry you must think me a pain? " "

I'll say to you what was said to me when I first started writing to the forum: "There's no such thing as a stupid question", so don't worry.

HoW and TotL are both expansions to the main game. There's extra areas to explore, new creatures to meet and lots of luverly new items to wail on them with! Nice.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can begin TotL until you have HoW installed, as the trigger for TotL is in the new area you go to in HoW. Sorry about that. Check around locally and on Ebay etc, to see if you can get a copy of HoW seperately. (That might be tricky over here.)

You're not a pain Lady B. You asked, we tell. That's what the forum is for.

Thanks for the reassurance Lord B, " "

Checked on Amazon, it will cost £14.99 for HoW, plus P&P. I didn't even know there was an extension pack. I bought this game in "Electronics Boutique" only after "Shogun: total war" broke down and refused to install. The nice guy, who doesn't work there any more (wonder why?) didn't even say there was an extension pack but that he was playing it himself.

Got the site for TotL though, just have to figure out how to get HoW?

Dang! That's a lot for HoW on its own. I got both for just a five-spot more. That fella saw you coming. Find him. Persecute him. Make him pay for the expansion! I'm afraid I don't know if you can get it seperately anywhere else. (Mind I haven't looked as I've had my copy for some time.)

BTW In answer to your previous question, I have completed IWD. I'm thinking of installing Winter's Bane and Breath of Auril. 'Course I'll need to fix IWD first!

Yes, he definitely did see me coming. If i see him again i certainly will ask him some very firm questions. But it is expensive seeing you can get both the actual game and the extension pack now for the price the game costed when it was first released. I guess i'm going to have to do without HoW or at least until they release the extension pack for cheaper.

I have to admit, i have only ever completed one game and that was Myst. What are Winter's Bane and Breath of Auril? i haven't even heard of them?

Has anyone replied to your post yet?

It's a bit of a downer, 'cause you used to be able to get HoW for a fiver I think. Keep checking on Ebay though. You never know.

WB and BoA are what's called Mini-Mods created by some of the guys and girls that are over at TeamBG (fanfares, applause, palm leaves strewn before their feet). Anything you ever wanted to know about fiddling with the Infinity Engine can be found there.

No to my post, but I doubt that anybody's seen 'Mind Blank' legitimately (check your level 8 wizards spells in the manual). I should mention that if you did have HoW/TotL then you would either have to import your characters into the expansion pack to play it seperately, or start again with the new areas installed.

BTW did you go to Kresslach's tomb before you went to the prietess's cave or vice versa?

Will keep looking at Ebay though. I suppose for a game its really not that bad a price. Just don't know whether i can afford it on a student salary. What course you doing?
