Thanks, Azred. I put that in precisely because I wanted to emphasise the mutual devotion of the PC and Imoen. I did notice, Halaster, that the game did not mention the PC's death, but I respectfully disagree, because that I feel that the PC is not me, and I would want to know their fate. I also put a similar one in on the altered Viconia Romance ending, which will be included iin this download. Here it is:
Viconia and (charname) were married soon after the events related here. So great was their fame that they were invited to take over command of the defences of Baldur's Gate against an attack by the drow. Their welcome there was tumultuous, with the populance falling in love with her beauty, who was there to help them against their enemies. The songs that the bards made in Viconia's praise enraged the Spider Queen, and she ordered all the drow faithful to her to redouble the assault on the city that dared shelter the renegade. The Siege of Baldur's Gate became legendary, climaxing in a great night battle before the Main Gate, where (charname) and Viconia alone drove back the drow's main attack, killing Lolth's High Priestess. A huge bronze statue of them both still stands in Baldur's Gate, memorializing their triumph. The city still celebrates the anniversary of the breaking of the siege, called Down Drow Day, culminating in the public reading of the great lay, "The Drow and the Bhaalspawn."
Afterwards, Viconia became Priestess of Helm, and the Vigilant One foiled all further attempts by Lolth. She bore (charname) a son, whom they named Veldren. He was remarkable both for his beauty and his strength, and succeeded his father as a Grand Duke of Baldur's Gate. Their joint tomb is still a tourist attraction, with its celebrated epitath by Veldren, "The Drow That Loved and the One that Loved Her."

Galadria, I haven't seen that revise. I like it MUCH BETTER than the previous version. Keep it up, sweetie.

Not a problem; as I've said many times before, that is why I am here.

Yes, Imoen's and the PC's circumstances/troubles could lead to a very strong bond between them. How nice for something to turn out for the better in the end. As far as their fate, I agree about stating clearly the fate of all concerned; that would be like the epilogue of an opera or the emotional closure generated by the final chord of a symphony (listen to Bach then cut off the last measure and tell me how you feel ).

Guess not much point in discussing here, so I will bow to the authors independence and accept your explanation . Any idea when the final mod will be ready to be implemented yet?

Azred, I have to disagree with you: Vampirism is a curse, lichdom an archivement, and to quote Dr.Rudolph VanRichten: "Mayhap becoming a lich is but the first of many steps to the state of transcendence."

I used to believe as you do; indeed, I had a couple of years where the original Azred worked towards becoming a lich. (kudos to anyone who can tell me from whence I got the name "Azred") Then came the years after that, during which I wished I could become a lich for real, just as an escape. And then I discovered something....

LIFE IS TOO GREAT!

I like a hot cup of coffee in the morning, a wide range of music, a good book or movie plot, waking up next to the best redhead in the world, and listening to our 6 year-old read. As a lich, these things would be meaningless. Some "acheivement" that would be!

Personal disclosures aside, I would urge you to discover why you have such a fascination for lichdom; these days, the only time I would walk down those paths would be for a character concept. The choice is, of course, up to you.

Now, lets not hijack this thread, so I'll keep this the last post to this topic:

As I said, as ending for my neutral-evil necromancer, I would most certainly like to see him become a lich. Mainly because it would fit the character...I do believe that only a few evil mages would discharge the possibility of becoming a lich.
As for a game ending, I really cant imagine Imoen becoming a lich, I was merely following a foolish thought.

If you want to know why I am so fascinated with liches, read "King of the Dead", the story of Azalin, lich regent of Darkon(you know him if you know Ravenloft). In most AD&D literature, most undead are tragic figures (Mellifleur, Azalin, Soth, Strahd..) undying, yet tormented by something from their former lives that they cannot change with all their power(well, mainly because they're domain lords )

Hope you didnt mind my rambling Galadria.
As for knowing what will happen with a character after the story ends, I prefer to have some space for my own imagination, but I'll settle with about anything if its presented credible enough.

Oh, from what I remember of the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game, you wrote "The Necronomicon", didnt you?

And this is what I see Galadria trying to show with her romance mod--people (Imoen and PC) being able to overcome something from their lives. Unless I am totally off the mark.

Very well put, Azred. I picture Imoen and the PC as alienated from their surroundings, unable to relate to anyone except themselves. As I said earlier, I do not picture either one of them as aggressive lesbians, they are just taking the only comfort that they can find in each other. Their love is a very pure one, and that is how that they can conceive a little product of their love, if not quite immaculately, then at least miraculously. The platonic version does much the same thing, without the sex and the baby, of course.
And, I'm sorry, I can't conceive of Immy as a Lich. She is just too unconcerned with personal power. That is why I made her so dependant on the PC that she is unable to live without her.

Exactly, if you've read the dragonlance cronicles (1st 3 books) then you can ask whose death was more poignant, Sturms death in battle, or Flint Fireforge's death, by heart attack... both were very meaningful and emotional, and served very well as reminders that it's how you live that matters, not merely dying goriously in battle.
