Methinks that everyone who has ToB is busy playing it, mate.

When I get it (tomorrow), I'll try and summarize some of the changes for everyone, depending on how long they are.

I *have* been posting a lot of information for people over the last few months, a lot of the changes have been covered there.

Balors aren't that tough.
IMHO most of the demons in the game are misrepresented to some extent. Balors are true tanar'ri, they are at the top of the tanar'ri tree, just below the level of lesser tanar'ri lords (unique tanar'ri). They are from the Abyss and are chaotic evil.

Pit fiends are the most powerful type of greater baatezu (short of Dukes of Hell and Arch-Devils). They are lawful evil and hail from the plane of Baator. They are MORE powerful than balors and have supra-genius intelligence. They are NOT ravening monsters like the ones that were in BG2.

Sorry Larry for not responding in time!
But living in the UK means demanding me get up in the midnight and early morning hours!

But I shall ask the specific questions now and thanks for the great effort last night!
Hopefully you can post more...

1/ Can we have a full description of all skills
not so much fighter ones such as Whirlwind attack because they have already been posted, but NEED thief, monk, druid...etc. DO NOT INCLUDE THE OLD ONES like "quivering palm"....just the new ones like Alchemy.

2/ New Priest and Mage Spells.....

3/ Any changes to existing spells and class kits.

THAT's it! But they will take you ages but you will be the most appreciated American here!

LARRY_OHF, I'm gonna ask for some of those "info request's" you said you would take.
1. Why did agannazar's scorcher need fixing?

2. Some of those super items metioned.

3. Those new class abilities.

Thanx if u can help.

I'd like to add a few things to Larry's comments if I may...

***Possible SPOILERS on items and ToB gameplay changes***

Here's some things that I noticed:
  • Can now obtain Potions of Superior Healing (40 pts. healed)
  • Game adds three chapters to SoA (Chapters 8, 9, 10)
  • Mirror image spell shows images in a tight group around the caster instead of in a line
  • Spells that have a duration of, "...+ 1 round/level" caps out at Level 20 (or 20 rounds if you prefer)
  • There is a partial listing of some of the components needed to further upgrade items.
  • Top levels for classes: Fighter=40, Paladin=34, Ranger=34, Wizard=31, Cleric=40, Druid=31, Thief=40, Bard=40, Sorcerer=31, Monk=40, Barbarian=40
  • Thieves can concoct a potion of Frost Giant Strength useable by Thieves and Bards.
  • Special abilities for Thieves include: Scroll scribing, Use any item, Evasion, Greater Evasion, Assassination (every strike for ? rounds does backstab damage), something like "Death Avoidance", some others that I can't remember. Druids basically (if I remember correctly) get Cleric special abilities, plus they gain a resistance to the elements and can summon Elemental Princes. Don't remember if Monks have special abilities or not...although the cap on Magic Resistance for them has been lowered (76%...I think...)
  • some things I've noticed: You can upgrade the Bladesinger chain into awesome Elven Chain +5 which is immune to all normal weapons. Can upgrade Flail of Ages, CArsomyr, and Cloak of Protection +2.[/list]
I haven't gotten much further than that in the game. Just started playing for a few hours last night. I can say though, that I haven't had *any* problems. Installation was smooth and the transition from the battle with Irenicus at the end of SoA to ToB was very smooth. Oh yeah, one other thing, that amulet of the Seldarine that you get from the Elves is very disappointing...

Hope you find that of some interest!

WWWOOOOHHHOOOO THANKS EVERYONE!
THRONTAR I THANK YOU!
MEMMNOCH and Larry I salute you in advance.

Black Assassin:

Agannazar's Scorcher has so many bugs.
First of all it lasts 2 rounds! not instant rooting your mage unable to move.

Mirror Image will be like IWD! Take less room!

What % MR do monks get per level?
It used to be 3...what is it now?
What are monk's high level abilities if any?

Ok, Ill try and answer some questions for you all, but I really don't want to ruin the playing experience, so Ill try and keep any spoilers to a minimum.

Ive been playing for a while, so here is what ill tell you. TOB is a pretty nice addition, but you have to remember its thrown at the end, I haven't found it yet very difficult, but there are a ton of magic items, ALOT of gold, and its what I call basically a Monty Haul add-on. All kinds of neat powers, neat magic items, etc.

As to magic items, There are ALOT of nice new magic items, many of these can be assembled or upgraded by a little IMP in the game. This IMP is INCREDIBLE in upgrading and changing things, so far I have a list of about 20 items you can upgrade/create. Some neat items you can upgrade, those Pantaloons from the previons baldur's gate, mm your holy avenger ? LOL does it need to be better really? New quivers, bracers specifically for bards and paladins, new dragon armor (you already have red, black, there are some more colors out there)
Don't worry about needing potions in the game, there are a zillion healing potions out there, they even give you POTION BAGS to carry up to 100 potions in. A great new item.

Now for the new skills. Everyone gets higher level powers depending on your class. Fighters/monks/paladins/rangers, etc get nice warrior skills, some so powerful you can ginzu your way at 10 attacks a round through your opponents.
Bards and Thieves benefit the most I would say, their higher level abilities just are so awsome, bards especially because they get the thief abilities PLUS a couple just for bards. Many have been listed already, but my favorite so far is the USE ANY ITEM skill. This allows your thief to use ANY item in the game that they normally could not use. Paladin bracers, sure you can use them now. Gauntlets of crushing? sure, put them on. Ready the mage robes, wave that wand of lightning about, your thief is now what ever you want him.
Mages and Clerics get higher level spells. The are treated as being memorized as 9th level mage or 7th level cleric spells (you have to memorize them for them to work), but they are actually 10th level mage/8th level cleric spells in effect. You might get the mighty dragons-breath attack that does 20-200 damage. Or summon planetars or devas to help you fight in battle, or if you are evil, you can summon dark planetars and dark devas. Some very powerful spells here.

Any class you are playing will have some neat powers, so don't try and make up characters you think will be super strong. Everyone gets some cool stuff. I myself think the super powers and such are silly, I haven't had any problems doing stuff that my regular skills couldn't handle, I don't see a need for Greater Whirlwind attack, do you really need your warrior that strong? but its there, so I guess you better get it
Please, you really shouldn't be asking about who gets what powers and what they are, its alot more fun to find out in the game. I tried to stay out of the spoiler forums, and all the neat stuff that was popping up was very cool. Thats why I try and put only the stuff you might find info on in the manual, telling ingame secrets just for kicks isn't fun for the other guys.

Larry, or anyone else with a couple of minutes to spare, could you take a look at my post about Scorcerers spells/levels in the SoA forum. Bascially, I think I want to know what is in these tables. Thanks.
