There's no set "god of rogues" in Faerun. Mask is the god of shadows and thieves, yes, but Shar is the goddess of darkness, and Cyric is the god of murder and intrigue. There's also Talona, goddess of disease and poison, Beshaba, the goddess of (bad) luck and mischief, and countless others (and those are just the human evil deities). Olidammara is a god from the core DnD setting, which I believe is Greyhawk.

That being said, I don't think Gorion would raise an assasin. I'm also going to have to side with the "We already have that class in Imoen" camp. I really like the idea of a sorcerer... I mean, if godsblood isn't going to give you fantastic innate powers, I don't know what is.

Wouldn't Tymora be the closest thing to a god for rogues? Good aligned ones, anyway.

Probably. If I recall, Coran seemed to be aligned with Tymora...

Good or free-spirited rogues might gravitate towards Tymora, certainly. Imoen, for example, would be an excellent example of a follower of Tymora.

Innate godpowers would work even better in a wild mage IMHO.

Agreed, but surely if you go by what biowares intentions/conceptions of the protagonist were then sorcerer and wild mage have to be discounted no?

I think that the protagonist's upbringing is an important thing to take into account. For this reason I would imagine that, were this a real story. The protagonist would be raised as a cleric, due to the teachings of candlekeep that were thrust upon them, encouraged to read and understand religions. Because of the spirit and mindset of the protagonist they would be a fairly weak cleric, not capable of mastering the trade and certainly without natural flare for the thing. I would imagine that the protagonist's love and respect for Gorion is all that would keep them on the path. Following Gorion's murder and the obvious rejection by the priests of candlekeep I think the need for revenge would cause the protagonist would become a fighter (dual-class), the weak clerical abilites would remain, though the role of a fighter would suit their demi-god attributes better.

It is important, I think, to remember that the protagonist does not know that they are a child of bhaal till later, so the class choice would not be made in the knowledge of their god qualities.

However, I doubt this is what the developers intended as the weapon restrictions for clerics are very strict. Also being a weak cleric would not benefit the player of the game, regardless of whether it would be appropriate to the plot of the "story".

Who said being a Cleric is weak?

Who said being a Cleric is weak? [/QUOTE]I think here "weak" is used to refer to a cleric that is level 1 or 2.
