I've managed to open it, too. Nothing.

Erm-hrm, anyway. Yes, bjorn. You can access that triangular container, but it contains nothing.

I only know of one container in the entire game that cannot be accessed without cheating.

The expansion Throne of Bhaal brings that nice feature. The days of mousing over the maps in detail are over!

It's a feature added when you install Throne of Bhaal.

Really. Must be a version issue, then, because try as I might, I've never been able to access that thing. For me, there's not a single pixel of the triangular container that isn't overlapped by the table-shaped one.

The "unpickable, unopenable chests," by the way, can be opened with a Knock spell--and that's the only way. It's a bug in the game, but happily there's a relatively easy way around it.

I really don't know how I did it. I just clicked on the triangle part and it was all the was higlighted. It was empty so it was pretty disappointing. Then when I got back from the Underdark I went to the Shadow lair and used the fog or war thingy and got into the eye of the statue and was even more disappointed. I figured that a chest hidden like that would have something majorly cool in it but it was just...well that would be a spoiler...so disappointing.

There is one pixel, yeah you heard me, one pixel that does not overlap with the other container. It is at the extreme tip of the triangle. Use the ring-hole in your Use-Item cursor to target that pixel.
