I find it interesting that many of you guys put Korgan and Mazzy as best tanks.

They are NO MATCH for Jaheira and Haer'dalis. Why? Because they have Stoneskin or Ironskin.

So if you have Korgan and Haer fight it goes like this:

Korgan - hits Haer for 0 dmg
Haer - hits Korgan for 20 dmg
Korgan - hits Haer for 0 dmg
Haer - hits Korgan for 20 dmg
.
.
.
Heh, not to mention PFMW.

The same goes for Jaheira.

And obviously you don't play in insane. Do you know how much damage inflicts a Greater Mummy to Korgan? Around 60. And how much to Jaheira? 0!!!

Do you know how much damage takes Mazzy from a Stone Golem hit? Around 50. And Haer'dalis? Heh, you guessed it, 0!

Besides which, stoneskin is no use against magic. One Horrid-Wilting can finish off Haer'Dalis.

You do know that PfMW lasts for 4 rounds? Haer'Dalis with Offensive spin will make mincemeat out of Korgan before the little dwarf can even affect him. And okay, Korgan could switch to a normal weapon but I would have cast PfMW after casting invisibility and buffing a bit more with let's say...Stoneskin, Blur, Mirror Image, Fire Shield Red and Blue. All this while Korgan stands there helplessly waiting because he can't dispel the invisibility.

Haer' Dalis casts SI Necromancy. Horrid-Wilting has no effect. Haer'Dalis casts breach and pounds mage.

I would put Haer'Dalis in my top three powerwise. No question.

Korgan could of course run away while Haer'Dalis's protections fizzle out. Since Haer'Dalis can't do anything and stay invisible that's not going to be too much use. It is likely that any character will be carrying an ordinary weapon for things like magic golems and PfMW. Anyway, how does Haer'Dalis know what spells to memorise? If Haer'Dalis casts SI necroFFFFFF">mancy, the mage can just take him down with a couple of sunfires or fireballs. Unless you rest every two or three battles, fancy special effects are no match for good honest butt kicking power.

FFFFFF">DSlaytern] Just correcting an unwittingly amusing typo.

Just as much as Haer can run away with HASTE while Korgan just follows more slowly...

Of course it's the weapons they use that will make the difference. If Haer uses Cfury it's goodbye for Korgan. If Korgan uses FOA it's goodbye for Haer unless under PFMW.

But if both use plain enchanted or unenchanted weapons, then I put my money on Haer from level 10 (12 for sure) and above.

One other point: if you put them one against another with all available items then Haer surely has the advantage but the end result is very much in the hands of the player who controls it.

If you play them in SOA or TOB with Tactics and on at least Hard difficulty then Korgan can only heal himself or stay in the back and throw axes. He has nothing to do in the front lines without Stoneskin or PFMW.

If for example Firkraag hits Korgan on insane twice it's around 140 dmg. If Firkraag hits Haer twice it's ....... 0 again!

No one can run from Haer'Dalis. Boots of Speed plus Offensive spin plus Haste(attacks don't stack but I think the movement rate does). Makes Superman look like my grandmammy.

Korgan has great constitution and a good AC. Spells eventualy run out, while Korgan's power to give and take big damage is constant. There is no way to immunise a character against all damage and that is why you need lots of hp.
