Actually, the "Er... How can you smell with no nose?" option for the main char is directed at the beholder that gaurds the chest in the fish-man place before the underdark. The area where the Drow used to dwell and placed the tooth that opens the door in the chest. That is one of the things you can say to it. The beholder reply is something like, you are not that familiar with magical beings or something like that,

what was it that Edwin said in Bg1, something about Elminster. He was grumbling something about Elminsters powers, and i remember laughing my ribs sore at it...anyway, thats my favorite quote(odd that i dont remember it)
