oh yeah...glitter dust them!!!

mass blindness..

if this was tactics mod, i'd recommend greater deathblow and fire seeds...but hey, i always recommend greater deathblow and fireseeds...

urm...have aerie or jaheira cast blade barrior, and turn off the ai, and make them invisible...walk up to them, and slice them into bits...

fire elementals...

alright, you guys and gals have been awesome so far, but i need help with the last elder orb. i get killed by inprisonment every time. i've tried several tactics, but to no avail. i know that i can just keep my distance from the elder orb, but this isn't working very well. any suuggestions, oh mighty and knowledgeable ones?

Woo-Hoo!!! I finally killed the elder orb!! Man, was that a lot of darts! I ended up taking my monk in there and pelting him with darts and running around, with the boots of speed. i didnt think they would make much difference on my monk, but they gave him that extra edge he needed to throw those darts at the end of a run. Sorry about the multipost, but this would have been kind of strange coupled with my earlier post. i could still use those tactics, though. Thanks!

imprisonment can be countered by...

spell immunity abjuration, berserker enrage, protection from magic scroll, or slayer change...

the easy way to do it, unless aerie or imoen have powerful attack spells, is to slayer change your monk, attack and kill, and turn human back right away...if you stay too long the slayer, it will kill you...

this is also a way to kill demiliches...

urm...i've been told minsc enrage will also protect from imprisonment, but i've heard it doesn't...

Hmm....I've always known the standard Hive Mother to cast True Sight, meaning the Cloak of Non-Detection will stop her cold (although good luck wearing 2 Cloaks at the same time), and why would anyone cast True Sight if they already could see through Invisibility?

As for Weimer's Improved Hive Mother, I think you may be right, but I wouldn't know, I wasn't Invisible anyway. And I was more perturbed by her infinite Chain Contingencies of Stoneskin/Improved Mantle/Heal. On the plus side, though--none of Weimer's Beholders cast Imprisonment.

That depends on who you're fighting. Boo's "Shield of the Acorns" does not grant immunity to Imprisonment, but certain enemies are scripted not to cast Imprisonment on targets that are STATE_BERSERK.
Yes Six I was talking about Imp. Hive Mother. I am also aware of the fact that she has infinite spells.

Are only Hive Mothers Improved or all Beholders? The reason why I am asking this is because AFAIK Elder Orbs cast Imprisoment.

The last time I did it was with Keldorn - using Crossbow of Speed and Bolts of Biting - he was Improve Hasted -> 7 ApR !
She was also Greater Malisoned and Doomed from other guys !
That poison from Bolts of Biting destroyed her in no time.

The problem with other tactics is that (as Six mentioned) she can heal herself infinite times , but poison prevents her from doing it.

I'm aware that in the normal version, the lone Imprisonment is dished out by a rogue Elder Orb, but since the Improved version sports about a dozen Elder Orbs, and none of them attempted to cast it, I feel safe in saying that no Improved Beholderkin cast Imprisonment--although the Hive Mother was the only one that lasted long enough.

Yes, I believe all Beholders get Improved--even Gauths.
- Warrior's THAC0
- Poison Damage (Save vs. Death for none) with each hit
- Will not use their rays on characters carrying the Shield of Balduran
- Hive Mother gets hacked all to hell

And they still have their collective ass handed to them by a single Level 4 spell.

The weird thing about the Hive Mother's infinite Heals is that they're not really Heals--It will bring her from Near Death back up to Injured, but not all the way to 100% health. Funky.

hmm...this implies that the hive mother was casting imprisonment via spell, not script, so constant attacks could spell disrupt it...insect plague, or simply attacking with the flail of the ages should work just as well.
