That depends on...
If you are playing an VERY strict & law-bound paladin type...
Well, ACTUALLY, if you are doing THAT, then you probably should have thrown Immy into the prison for pick-pocketing stuff and so on!

Anywayz...
Unless there is a mod to cure this dises called "Game Restrictions" you can do nothing more than bow your head and go vampire hunting.

Well...
This MIGHT be a cure for this little problem...

Check the "General Overview" & Forum links on that page for more info.

I have NO idea if that mod is still being worked on, or anything, but it sounds pretty cool.

Good-Luck vampire hunting or waiting for the Mod...

Sonic the creators of BG and BG2 have to set limits. A computer can't handle the variables that a human DM can handle and so the possibilities must be limited. What is your paladins justification for siding with the Vamps anyway? I'd be interested in hearing that. At any rate we must simply go with what we are given in the case of PC RPG's.

I would personally side with the ST's because they hate Jon at least as much as I do, while the vamps are his minions and every betrayal you experience was spawned from Jon or Bodhi. I don't see what the confusion is. The thieves never once used you for their own gain only to try and ice you once you've done them a favor. It is not a matter of them being good so much as them being the more good, or at least the lesser of two evils. It is possible to have an honest thief. I play one all the time. I'll steal anything from a house so long as it is not a weapon. And I'll always leave at least 5 gold for them. I'll never steal from someone who can't afford it.

Aww... Brings a tear to my eye that does.
I once played a thief, a master pick pocket, who even checked beggars for a few golders...

REally, why all this ranting for a perfectly reasonably choice. Ok, so you cannot choose a really good option, but isn't that exactly how it would be? You won't deal with totally good people to get your friend, you can expect to have the real powers, the evil or neutral ones to offer your help, for a price...
