So if we are thinking on the states (is a Wolfwere the harder 1 if you got a fighter whit its normal weapon imunety and its regnerate)And a Werewolf is harder if your a sorc when it got rengnerate and magic res.

Yup, sonic if you need to add or change something in one of your posts use the edit/delete function. Posting one response after another like that is typically considered flooding. It's doesn't look good. Just a friendly reminder. By all means continue the debate in an orderly fashion.

Knowledge from 2d ed. Ravenloft books (may not comport with BG)
Werewolves and Wolfweres can both transfer the lycanthropy through their bite. Wolfweres have an extremely high chance of doing so. A Werewolf's natural state is human, a wolfwere's is wolf. Wolfwere's tend to live in packs. In RL, there are a fair bit of bardic-type wolfwere's that surround Harkon Lucas. Harkon Lucas is a (Greater?) Wolfwere of a Unique variety. You need magic/silver to hit werewolves, magic/cold-wrought iron to hit wolfweres. I don't remember greater werewolves. I do know that the garden variety werewolf has more hit dice and better stats than the basic wolfwere. Both regenerate at comparable rates. Greater wolfweres are nasty. They have an extremely high chance of transferring the disease by biting you, they have a high magic resistance, and they HEAL at the end of each round!!!! Yikes!!! That means, kill it in one round or no go -- next round it has full hit points (minus 1d3) again. In practical terms, for the PnP player, this means surrounding the sucker, everyone holding their actions for double-blows, getting all spells ready to go off on the same round, etc. You can lower their magic resistance. Then, you might be able to cast hold on them. Then, it's one swipe=dead. In BG terms, this doesn't work of course. I'm pretty sure that BG2 dumbed-down the greater wolfwere. In RavenLoft, they tend to have 60+ hp and are very difficult to down in one round. I just saw Raislin's post. I think those are 3rd ed rules(?) but they appear very similar. The wolfwere's lethargy song is not fun. When fighting groups of them, you are almost always slowed. Note that the D&D entries say wolfweres are solitary. Well, not really in RL. Also, note their physical beauty. This + the song = good bards. Now, for some real charm, there's the Werefox.... [ 10-10-2003, 06:34 PM: Message edited by: Timber Loftis ] |
