I do have to say that the most galling thing is not that she may be (and most likely is) getting away with murder, but that she'll probably get a multi-million dollar book/movie deal out of it.

If the media didn't focus on this case in particular, nobody would know who she was to care enough to read her book or even enable her to get publishing offers to begin with.

I never followed this case at all; however, I do know the one name associated with this case that isn't getting the negative feedback that she should--Nancy Grace. Didn't she devote much of her show over the last couple of years to going on and on about how guilty Ms. Anthony was and that it was an open-and-shut case? The prosection had nearly three years to collect evidence to present at a trial and when they did so, the jury found it insufficient and/or inconclusive.

I think the real lesson here should be about the news media distorting a case before a trial begins, thus setting up unrealistic expectations in the general public.

Well, Nancy Grace-less is hardly media. She believes everyone accused of anything is guilty always, lol. She will scream about injustice, yet hosts her own show "Swift Justice" (a very lame and low-budget attempt at Judge Judy), where she dispenses "justice" in a matter of minutes to people who appear like they never get out of bed. Guess she has a dinner date to attend to or something. No time for little nuances like thorough investigations. Just an entertainer - if even. You should see when someone on her panel disagrees with her, she cuts the connection.

Her Swift Justice show is really kinda boring to me. But I do from time to time enjoy watching her nightly show just to see how outrageous she will get. It's always "bombshell tonight" when a lot of the time it is just repeated news and no bombshell at all LOL. I also laugh when she gets pissed at someone who disagrees with her and she just cuts off their mic, so you see their face in a square with their mouth moving soundlessly LOL.

Not that I agree with her perspective always, cause she does tend to jump to a guilty judgment, but she can be entertaining. Same for lawyer Jeffrey Pheiger (spelling probably wrong) who loves to be smarmy. Always a show watching the two of them go head to head (haven't see Jeffrey in years though on TV).

Yeah, Nancy Graceless hates everyone. She is so filled with hate that she is funny though. Ever hear when she thinks someone is lying? "Don't lie on Swift Justice!". I always get the feeling that she is biased against men too. If Nancy was in control, she would lop off the heads of all men who wrong women. She's a mess of angry faux-lawyer. If anyone interrupts her also btw - they're as good as dead, lol. And yeah, when she's talking to someone via satellite and they are mysteriously cut off I find it funny how she continues to say "I think I lost John" with a straight face.

In the interest of being equitable, I think many shows that allow callers do this--I have heard both Mark Levin (a bastion of the right) and Tavis Smiley (a bastion of the left) tell callers to get off the phone and they drop the call on purpose.

Of course, I don't have TV at the house--we get along perfectly fine without it--so I don't know anything about Ms. Grace's show(s).

Make no mistake about it, though--she is definitely "media" because sponsors buy air time during her shows and she talks about news/current events. She is just a different version of a talking head show, though--those kinds of shows are 85% opinion and 15% fact (and I am being generous) .

Yeah her main show is like entertainment media rather than journalistic or factual. The other one is just her punishing people for the things that happend in her life.

It looks like maybe the media will soon focus on another possible killer mom now (well except for on Saturday when Casey gets out of jail). So things are moving on.

I have always thought that things like birth control should be easier to get and cheaper. Maybe if so there would not be so many unwanted, neglected and abused children. Birth control is pretty expensive (at LEAST $50/month, usually more). There are probably a lot of women who cannot afford it, or just don't want to pay such a large price per month. People can try to preach abstinence, but it just doesn't work, human nature and all that. I think having more affordable birth control would at least make a small difference. Just a random thought tonight.
