Dude, nobody made a plaque and announced that soloing was the easiest thing to do in the BG2 world. If soloing was easy, everybody and their grandma, grandpa and cousins would have done it already.
As I have said before, I soloed for the challenge. If I wanted an easy life in the game, I would have made a party already. Anyway, I went to check my solo Assassin and here is a titbit, it has been 170+ gamedays already and I am still in Chapter 3( level 28 now). Assassins are harder to solo than other kits because their forte is stealthy kills, not brazen gung-ho senseless charging into the fray. I have killed Kangaxx, whupped Bodhi, cleared Nalia's Keep and Tradesmeet, among several others. Soon to be on the hit list are the Shadow Dragon, Firkragg, Twisted Rune and the Guarded Compound. If you really need to know, the easiest kit to solo with is the Kensai->Mage, followed by the Sorcerer. Kensai->Thieves are good too, but I am currently avoiding the Kensais because they are too easy and common already. I am more proud of my solo Cavalier than my solo Sorcerer, because it was a harder challenge trying to survive with a Cavalier than a Sorcerer. *takes a deep breath* Lastly, you CAN kill everything, but it will not be easy. Sometimes it is more logical to avoid a fight if it does serve your purpose best. Can my Sorcerer kill the demons in the Dead Magic rooms in Watcher's Keep? Sureeee, but what is the point? I have attained maximum level already and they have no good loot and it does not affect my main quest at all! Better to just speed through the room and get to the next level in the place. |

I just began a game with a solo swashbuckler. My first solo; we'll see how it turns out.
I took the swashbuckler because at some point, he's going to have to go toe-to-toe with some baddies, and I think its worth giving up the backstab ability to become more proficient at fighting. One great thing about doing the solo: you get ALL the party's xp points instead of having to share. I hate sharing. |
