Lymond,

Thanks.

To augment Dundee Slaytern's lesson on APR, I would point out that this is ANOTHER good reason to use Fighters copiously when building DC characters: IIRC, they get an extra APR at time of roll or very eary on, another 1/2 APR at level 7 and another 1/2 to 1 APR when your weapon PPs stack high enough.

It would be fun, but not trivial, to try and quantize the worth of APR in terms of currency like damage and THAC0 bonuses. The trade-off would be affected by base weapon damage, fighter skills in the weapon, PC clvl, monster AC and magical attributes, and other factors. However, it is obvious that a one-APR bonus is certainly worth much more than a few extra damage points on a weapon, and is worth more than an enchantment granting a point bonus to THAC0; given, of course, that the enemy still takes damage without the enchantment (no "weapon ineffective" messages).

Warriors get +0.5 ApR at level 7 and 13.

You gain +0.5 ApR for Specialisation, and another for Grandmastery.

ADD] Oh, and if a Ranger wields a single-handed weapon without any shield, he gains +1 ApR as well. This was meant to apply to certain weapon types only, but somehow it applies to all types of single-handed weapons.

Right, so here's a tricky one:

My Pally's currently got 2 attacks per round, and he has a THAC0 +2 sword, 1d8+2 with some fire damage to boot. I've picked up a bastrad sword +1 with 2 attacks per round, THAC0 +1 and 1d6+3. With it my Pally now seems to have 3 attacks per round. Two questions:
1) Which is better to keep?
2) If I decide to keep the bastard sword, will it be any good against the odd little girl transformed?

1) Keep both. You have multiple QuickWeapon Slots for a reason.

2) The Odd Little Girl requires +2 enchanted or better weapons to hit, so the Bastard Sword of Action will be useless against her. The BSoA is excellent against normal creatures though, at least until you start obtaining the +4 weapons.
