It certainly is not an activity I would be quick to recommend to anyone, I can assure you. Unless they are a complete "bodily egress", if you know what I mean.

@ /)eathKiller: makes you wonder why America doesn't have conscription like other countries, yes?

Lord of Alcohol,

It was my own stupidity, but I ended up taking it in the lower back. Messed up three verterbra (sp?). Long lasting effects? Well I'll walk with a limp for the rest of my life, but I count myself lucky that I walk at all. The RCMP never did find the guy that did it, but his face is forever etched on my brain. I'm hoping that one day we'll meet somewhere and I'll be able to repay him for the pain.

I feel safe in the U.S. I live in New York City and the ONLY TIME I have ever been involved in a violent crime was in washington D.C. of all places !!! I was going to a club and some crack head pulled a knife on me. Unfortunately for him , I have been involved in martial arts for about 10 years , so when he asked me
for my wallet I told him to go get bent. When he tried to take my wallet useing his knife I broke his arm and dislocated his shoulder. I then enjoyed a lovely night of industrial music with RAMMSTEIN

I must admit, most discussions here in Australia whenever someone mentions moving to America, are about how you can't go out by yourself at night. Or that there are places that you just shouldn't go.

I guess we hear a lot about violence in America on tv and in movies.

Where I live in Sydney, we virtually have no crime at all. The occasional idiot, but nothing more.

I feel quite safe. I am a guy, so I can defend myself, and if things go wrong, I can always run. (I am a good runner)

it is for the people that I love I fear...

That is the root of the problem, and hopefully it will change soon.

Myself, I used to like in New York, and I would commute by subway to work - and I was mugged. I think I said this in another thread. As you can see, I'm still alive and unhurt, and the two nice gentlemen who relieved me of my possessions are still in prison.
maybe you were just lucky. Ever thougt about that ?
