Chromatic Orb is the best spell in Icewind Dale I. I don't know why it has been changed for IWDII, but here it actually killed if a saving throw was failed. If succeded, it would paralyze. Can't go wrong. And what's with those level 8 & 9 spells? If you could only reach level 14, why include them? Casting scrolls, maybe?

With Heart of Winter you can reach level 30.
Without the expansion the only use would be to cast them from scrolls. |
