Spelling do matters as I constantly edit and re-edit my post to iron out the typos and spelling errors. I may not get all the mistakes corrected, but at least my posts look "neat" to me. [edit] See... I am doing it again. [ 07-21-2004, 07:36 AM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

In my book, you'll get more credibility if you at least try to spell correctly. Simple typing errors and mistakes from non-native speakers aside, of course. If a native speaker writes like an idiot, then, to me, the apparent conclusion would be that he is an idiot.

It should be, "As a matter of principle ~". ~~~~ ~~~~ On a related note, I do find spelling (or at least an attempt at spelling) to be important, if only to convey the impression that you are being serious/professional. It also gives the reader a better impression of you. One of my pet peeves when it comes to incorrect spelling is the usage of "your" to represent "you're". It infuriates me to no end to see this kind of mistake, and it incites unimaginable visions of various tortures that I implement on the offender in my mind. When people are in a hurry, I can forgive them for abbreviating words in a SMS message over a handphone, but when you have time to type properly on a forum, or in an e-mail, then abbreviations to me, show a lack of heart in the message and a lack of courtesy to the recipient. |
