"Very well, Silt, you can take the first shift, then I, then Lyulf, and finally Andrion, Rong Er can sleep out the night completely, and tomorrow if we're still on the road, it can be someone else."

Candle Team

So Silt has been nominated for first watch. Each shift will last two hours, and will start at 10pm, ending at 6am.

The party locates a shelter at the base of a small hill where a large and flattened stone jutted out from it about fifteen feet from the ground and the earth beneath the covering had been eroded away. Upon surveying the site, an old campfire circle had been discovered, but was years old.

The time is now 10:15pm. The only sounds are from desert crickets and an occasional howling of miles away coyotes.

OOC>>>I will tell you when your two hours are up. Silt, just post something. Anybody else that have not yet fallen asleep can post as they see fit, or they can snore.

ic- Liam

Liam's eyes narrowed in amusement as he watched Arcades goof off with the cats and KayLisa. Turning back to Larry, he was glad to see the worried man smiling for once. "Yes, let me find someone who will be good forr this task," he drawled, Neomea moving up to perch on his shoulder as he rose, her nose rubbing his ear. Moving sinuously, he stopped next to Arcades and looked around at the multitude of cats.

The blonde haired man had stood there for only a few moments before disaster struck. A large black and orange blur moved fluidly in his direction at top speed, and only through quick reflexes was Liam able to move out of the way before being pounced on. Snarling at Neomea, who was now perched on Arcades' shoulder, was a full grown female tiger. Her amber eyes looked angrily at the small cat who was out of her reach. Neomea looked down on the large tigress with disdain and anger.

"Bad!" the elven cat scolded the tigress with her kittenish voice. Liam looked sternly at the large cat and growled in a voice that did not sound entirely human. The tigress looked back at him and snarled, her ears flicking back in agitation. After holding a staring contest the tigress finally looked away with a subdued growl and padded over to the edge of the clearing. Settling back on her haunches, she rested her head on her front paws, her eyes still watching Liam with a smothering fury burning in them.

Meanwhile Liam had removed the shaking Neomea from Arcades back and was attempting to soothe the ruffled cat. "I appologize for Chisa's behaviorr," he said wearily. "Sometimes she forrgets herr place." He shot a severe look in the tigress' direction, who was innocently watching a chicken attacking a worm, pointedly ignoring the group. "She means well, but she is verry overr prrotective of me, especially arround females, both human and nonhuman." Liam shot an appologetic and pointed look in KayLisa's direction.

"As forr eyes, I have the perrfect one forr the job." As if sensing what Liam was thinking, a small, short-legged cat approached him. It's fur is a dune grey-brown, with a whiteish muzzle, chest, and belly. From each lightbrown eye a streak of red extended across its cheeks, and its head is unusually broad with large ears set low on the sides. Its long, black-ringed tail waved once in acknowledgement.

"This is Sabbiel. He is a Sand Cat, and is perrfect forr the conditions. He has extrremely acute senses as well," Liam gestured at Sabbiel's large ears and extended nose. "Before I send him on his way, I have one question. Do you want the grroup to be awarre of the watcherr, orr no?" he asked, looking at Larry questioningly.

ooc- almost forgot to show you guys a link. Girls and cat-lovers, prepare to go "awwww" over the pic, heheh.

I'm so very glad we all had a say in this... :atadpeeved:

ic- Lyulfe

Lyulfe cocked an eyebrow at Roderik's decision, but said nothing. After making sure Rong Er was comfortable he settled himself on his back, his arms crossed behind his back. After staring at the stars for awhile he sighed as the firewood crackled from the heat. His nerves were too on edge for him to fall asleep so easily. The elf could tell it was going to be a long night...

Vincent Pathfinder 91/98 have I healed any ?

Taking all the scents and the coziness of the home was just like coming home for him. "All thats missing is a smithy and this would just about be home for me he spoke softly almost to himself. He enjoyed the freedom of the wilderness much more then that of city dwelling, any that looked would notice he was much at ease in this little "hideout" then he was on the beaten path. Stretching he asks "Liam, may there be a place for me to lay down for a bit, or shall I find a few trees and hang my hammock up, I dont feel like napping on the ground at this moment .

Larry

Larry watched the whole tiger vs. talking cat fight and then the announcement of the desert stealth specialist of this feline task force. He smiled again, even more now...because he really could not figure any of this out.

"So...what is the deal with all this? All these cats, I mean? And how do you control them? I used to be a Ranger, but I could only have one devoted animal. You are no druid, so what gives?"

Larry realized that he had not yet answered the question, so he quickly through in,

"Oh..and I guess it would not be safe for...um...your desert stalker to be seen. Who knows what they'd do to it...they might try eating it! I just want to know how long they will take to get here, or if trouble has occurred."

ooc- welcome to my life, Larry

ic- Liam

Liam peered upwards with a thoughtful expression and tapped his chin. "I would not suggest using a trree, because most of the trrees arre out of rrange of the prrotection spell. You may use my bed, if you wish to rrest, Vincent. When you enterr the cabin and face the hearrth, it is the closed doorr on the rright side. The otherr doorr is locked, so it should not be too difficult to find." He smiled amiably at Vincent before turning his attention back to the very confused Larry. Chuckling softly in a rich, husky voice he replied, "I doubt they want to eat Sabbiel. Deserrt cats arre rratherr tough to eat, I am surre. And Sabbiel would not put up with being eaten without a fight."

He continued to chuckle for a moment longer before speaking again. "As forr all the cats... I rreally have no contrrol overr them. If I did, Chisa would not be allowed to behave as she does. I only trreat them as they should be trreated, although not always how they would like to be trreated, if you know what I mean," he added humourously. "Many I found in differrent situations, hurrt, orr lost, orr abandoned. They arre frree to come and go as they please. Some have merrely appearred, somehow finding theirr way herre." The tall man shrugged his shoulders elegantly. "I suppose the cats tell each otherr about this place... I merrely have, how do you say, an affinity with cats, and cat-like beings. They do not have to do as I ask, but they generrally do." Liam hastened to add, "Sabbiel is verry loyal. I trrust him to complete this task, do not worrry."

He bent over and placed Neomea gently on the ground. Wriggling his fingers under Sabbiel's chin, the tall man lithely began walking to the edge of the clearing, in the direction that the other group would be in. After twitching his ringed tail a few times, Sabbiel sauntered off after the strange aristocrat. Where the trees began to thicken and draw closer together again, Liam crouched down and bent towards Sabbiel. Lifting up a hand to shield his mouth, the man whispered something into one of the cat's large ears. The other ear twitched forward and back every once in awhile, as if he could understand what Liam was murmuring to him. After a few moments Liam stood up and the stocky creature disappeared into the forest depths.

The tall blonde stared off into the jungle for a minute before turning back around and weaving his way back to his party. "Beforre we rretirre, would you all enjoy some stew?" Liam asked everyone affably. "Unforrtunately, I do not believe I have enough to feed you, my larrge frriend," he said appologetically to Arcades.

For Vincent A description of the bedroom (if you choose to join the group to eat or not is your own decision):

Opening the right-hand door reveals a medium sized room. Comfortable and tidy to an extent, the room contains a bed made of carved mahogany that takes up almost the entire left wall of the room, in order to accomodate for its owner's height. Carved to resemble woodlands and forest creatures, the bed has a comfortable looking mattress and some blankets and down pillows on it. The quilt on top has a fierce pouncing tiger embroidered on it, with a strange castle in the background.

Against the far wall is a matching desk with some blank parchment, ink and quill pens. To the right is a bookcase/cupboard. A few old leather-bound books line the shelves, and the cupboard is locked. It most likely contains clothing. The front of the cupboard is designed to look like a huge cat's face, with the opening down the middle of the visage.

On the near wall is a small hearth, which probably connects with the chimney from the kitchen. An overstuffed red velvet chair is placed in front of it. The chair is obviously well loved, because some of the velvet has begun to wear away in places. The pregnant cat that had been lying on the hearth in the kitchen follows you in and makes herself comfortable on the armchair.

The walls of the room are made of smooth wood, like the kitchen. Covering them are a few strange tapestries here and there. One, hanging next to the desk, resembles the quilt on the bed. Another, hanging above the mantel of the fireplace, depicts a family of tigers. Off to the side is a group of humans that look sinister, one wearing a crown. The tigers seem oblivious of the humans, and are surrounded by other cats, all of them playing and doing cat-like things. All the tapestries are becoming old and faded.

ooc- hope the description is okay

Larry

Larry thanked the host for the offer to sit and eat, and did so, readily. He was the more than a little famished and could not wait to try this stew.

"My wife used to love my cooking. I was quite the chef in my former days when the tavern first opened."

When nobody responded to that, he tried again to make conversation.

"So...where's that accent from? Sembia? I have never heard one speak the way you do. Are you an exile from a far land that chooses to live alone in peace with his cats or what?"

OOC>>>Larry never was one to know when to stop talking, nor was he the good cook that he thinks he was. You can ask Mistral's ghost for confirmation to the both.

Silt 80/80

Silt was glad to be on watch, he liked to have some time to himself every now and then, and didn't need much resting time anyway. He decided he would stay up for the first two watches, keeping Roderik company; it may give him a chance to talk about Roderiks outburst Silt thought.

He gazed far, taking in a picture of the beautiful sky, thinking off all the good times he had had during his long life. He hoped this adventure would have a lot more to add to his existing collection. The occasional cracking from the crickets added to the brilliant atmosphere, and Silt sat back, deep in thought, but keeping vigilante all the same...

ooc> thatl do for now, presume my character stays on for the next watch, so there may be some banter, lets see what happens

ooc- love the attempt at conversation, Larry

ic- Liam

Liam was bent over the large stew pot, stirring the remains. At Larry's questioning, he stood up and faced him, his eyes narrowed with amusement.

"Unforrtunately I cannot say wherre my accent is frrom, exactly. I do know my family was cast out frrom some land, but wherre exactly, I know not." he shrugged elegantly. "I suppose you could say that the accent rruns in the family." The corners of his mouth quirked upwards at his own statement.

"Would anyone else like some morre stew? Therre is a bit left," he asked everyone, changing the subject.
