You are right. Some of the players may have done 2nd ed while others did 3rd.

Okay everybody...let's reevaluate our HPs. If you have a question, PM or post here to get it resolved. Let's get this right before somebody dies.

All stats will come from 2nd ed. rules.
I was wrong to use NWN to count up stats...as it is flawed.
Oh...and we rounded UP because we are such nice guys.
Notice that some people stay the same, some people gain HP and some fall lower.

Hey Cyril...it would be helpful to have a list of rules for 2nd Ed. along with the formulas needed like to roll up stats and HP. Can you post this up on your site as well?

BTW, In order to Level-up people...I will need the necessary stats to do so. Unless you don't want to level-up.

I can get that up - but it will take time. Honestly, however - if i'm going to go through that kind of trouble I'd sooner spend the time posting a system that I would actually use outside of this game. This stuff is only critical when we run into PvP situations and so the adjustments made here should do the trick for now.

I'd like to avoid simply converting everything to 2e rules - in part because I'm not really a 2e player myself and we do have a couple non D&D based players in the game as well. Setting a cap of 11d4 for mages and 10 hit dice for other characters seems like a reasonable solution. Additional hit points at higher levels can be worked out by the DM pretty simply.

We're spending a lot of time interpeting rules at the moment and I certainly do not want to see you burn out over the craziness of trying to find a uniform system to work everything out.

Frankly - the price for allowing different rule sets is that we all need to compromise a bit, and the DM needs to be free to bend and stretch things to keep the game running. Basic fairness is what we should be after - not a specific list of rules for each occassion. Basic fairness means that we should not have to run and consult a book or table or spell description for each action that someone takes. You're DMing a game with a wide number of rulesets in play. Feel free to choose what makes sense at the time and go with it.

This is not pen and paper gaming and it's not a CRPG where the computer has everything already programmed in terms of the ruleset. Let's not lose the freedom of play this game has always had over questions of rules. Afterall - this has never been a purely D&D game either, despite the dominant use of D&D materials in our gameplay.

Our main issue is in keeping the characters balanced in terms of each other, especially for those occassions when the characters come into conflict with each other. The next issue is for you to decide what basic method or style you'll want to follow in managing the game and in adjudicating situations. At that point simply decide reasonably and things should be fine. I actually did very little dice rolling in DMing the Aftermath game - in part because if I pushed the rules most likely no one would have survived, and in part because the game was never about the rules.

As I've noted - be careful not to drive yourself crazy trying to fit everything together. We're going to have loose ends , that's part of the nature of the game. I'd rather see you spending your energy telling a killer story than splicing 3e and 2e together. The story matters. The dice are merely accessories.

I deleted the Nanashi post...so that their deaths can be played out more appropriately, then.

I considered the guards at level 6, having about 48HP each. Do you agree?

For the Nanashi versus the Five Guards upcoming extravaganza...know this, for I shall tell you a small bit about my girl.

She is no shadow giant...for two of those could easily kill her, but one shadow giant would have some difficulty. Under them, she is the strongest NPC in the game, the only one being played that is in epic charts. This does not include The Shadow Mage and the Reaper, who have no ability to be charted in gaming stats.

Nanashi cannot be stopped, therefore, by conventional means. She has been raised and taught by the Mage himself, and has perfected a special offencive/defencive manuver called "Shadow Stalk", which is a variant of "Shadow Walk." I think you all know what this is by now.

Nanashi is doing what the Mage would be if he were desirous to get personally involved in this fight. He does not need to, because he has two agents on the floor right now. These agents are perfectly capable of doing what needs to be done.

I just wanted that to be clear...that nobody would stand a change against her...and that is why I have not presented her into the battle against you all. She would have won. But she is more interested in doing the job of killing Larry alone, without Andrion...so that is what saved you all. If you want to battle her...well...let me say this. You better hope that I am in a good mood at the time, as to allow you to escape with a couple of your limbs still attached.

Her level and stats? I know them, but I don't think it would be right for the DM to mention them to the players. She is the DM's kitten...the pride of my power against you guys. Just like Cyril has the old sage to be there for anything a DM needs for the good guys...so Nanashi is here for me to do the wickedness that a DM needs to spread sometimes.

I would but Andrion is in the middle of casting a spell and I have just posted for Plaxica, so there is nothing I can post.
