ILLEK (Glances at Verloren, but looks Blandamour in the eye) "Indeed, my lord, my part in this was not pretty, though I repented before anything irrevocable could be done. My role was to bear a tale to her of the imprisonment and torment of her former lover at the hands of Lady Nataskia, luring her to the castle, where her lover would then lead her into a trap. But, I came to know Princess Verloren, and determined that I should not do such a foul thing to her. Drajlough had painted quite a different picture of her to Lady Nataskia, but I found that the only true thing was her beauty. So, I betrayed my trust, and it will go hard on me if the Lady ever finds out the part that I played. So, what say you? Am I free or no?"

SIR BLANDAMOUR (Fixes Illek in a piercing glance, but, after a short interval, relents.) "All right. No harm has come to the Princess, and she vouches for you. You are free to go on my account, but, a word of warning to you: a man, or an elf, becomes known by the company that he keeps, and you seem to have a perilous employer. She shall hear naught of it from me, and I will tell you that she had best steer clear of me. I have no fear of witches, and my sword can cleave them as well as lesser folk. Now, we had best ride back. I have a dragon to interview."

Sanael Ganahr

notices Verloren's hesitation and leans forward

"Who did this Nataskia send, Princess? - Our fairhaired friend over there, perhaps?"

He looks over at Illek

"Oh and just out of curiousity - why exactly were you banished? I don't know, and frankly I'm dying to find out."

Verloren
"Sanael, it is not your buisness to pry into his personal life!" she whispered fiercely at him. Her hand went to her sword, but she pulled back immediatley, remembering he was a friend. She was red with anger, but knew this questioning was necessary. Verloren sighed and crossed her arms defiantly.

She held her breath as she watched Legolas lean forward in a daze, his haunted eyes peering into the hissing fire and almost allowing its tongue to lick his nose. Yet, just as abruptly, he began to withdraw, the lost look slowly dissipating but not completely removed.

Tentatively, she reached out and placed her warm fingertips on his right wrist. ~ "Are you alright, Legolas?" ~ The soft whisper a reflection of her uncertainty.

She watches Sir Bors' expression closely, chewing her own lips nervously before speaking ~ "I thank you very much for your trust in supporting my quest, Sir Bors." ~ Her eyes glitter ~ "Never in my wildest dreams did I ever foresee this day, but I'll not back down from the responsibility that is expected of me." ~ The tone of her voice is grim, though her cheeks flush brilliantly with energy ~ "If you should wish to know more details of my life, I shall try my best to address your concerns." ~ Here, her voice falters a little ~ "I... I may have a little problem of amnesia, though." ~ And she turns towards Galadria subconsciously, a near-despairing expression on her taut face.

ILLEK (Glares at Sanael, then shifts his gaze to Verloren. He speaks as if to her, only) "One day, long ago, I was returning from a jaunt into the woods of Killalu, a forest of wondrous dimension, I could walk for days without seeing another, Elf or any. I was glad, so, to meet a fellow creature, a woman, elven by her size, and deeply hooded, though the weather was fine. I hailed her, gladly, for I was a bit lonely, and conversation with another of my race seemed a fine thing. She returned my greeting, but with a strange accent that made the hairs on the back of my neck lift, though I knew not why. She then threw back her hood, rather defiantly, and I saw that, though lovely beyond compare, she was a Drow, the sworn enemy of my race. I was armed, though only against animals, not for war, and I pulled my boar spear to the ready. She, though, gently reached out her hand and turned the spear aside, and I, fool that I was, let her. The look in her eyes was not one that I should have expected in any Drow, especially one of the women, fierce in the service of their foul goddess Lloth. She then spoke, her voice again thrilling me. "A surface elf? Ah, my luck is as bad as ever. Sometimes I think that when I denounced Lloth and left the Underdark, that she cursed me, never to have any good thing happen. But, you do not attack me? Here I am, defenceless. You could strike that spear into my heart and have a fine story to tell your Elven King. But your eyes are as kind as your face is fair."
Her eyes were not Drow black, but deep violet, and when I looked within them, I was lost. I stayed with her that night, and fell in love, as I thought. She told me that her name was Chorania LeMieux, and that she had fled the Underdark because she could stomach Lloth's rule no longer. She had made friends on the surface, a great mage in one of the cities of the south, but had wanted to travel, and had ended up being hounded by people who saw her only as a Drow. She begged me to get her through the kingdom, so that she could take ship and go back to her friends. I was besotted, and stole a gem from a temple that disguised her as one of my people. I got her on board a ship, but, just as it sailed into the distance, there were two priests, who had divined who had stolen their gem, and why. I was imprisoned, tried, and exiled, and had to take to whatever fed and clothed me. That is my tale, believe me or no." He stood, looking into Verloren's eyes, awaiting a verdict.)

ELIZA (to Blandamour) "My Lord, I have heard that name. She is said to be one of the servants and companions of a great mage in Baldur's Gate. I cannot recall the name, exactly, but it is somewhat like Lady Galadria's. She is said to be one of the greatest of Lloth's foes." (shivers) "I would not Lloth to have a grudge against me."

SIR BLANDAMOUR (to Eliza) "Indeed, I have heard of her, too. The mage that she serves is Galadria Godspawn, to whom, I believe, Lady Galadria is distantly related. Or, perhaps, there is merely a connection. At any rate, that is whom Lady Galadria is named for, old Foebane being a close friend of her husband." (To Illek) "If you were indeed of service to Chorania Lemeaux, and I can see no lie in your eyes, you are free to come or go on my part."

Hearing Balndamour's comment, she lowered her eyes to the ground, then brought them back to look at Illek, they were starting to glisten, "Aye, of course I believe you, Illek...you are free to do as you wish," she lowered her eyes again and kept them closed. She didn't need to cry in front of her friends.
