At the sound of her mother's shouting, Zyaevl awoke, startled. Still, she wasn't young enough to start bawling, which was a blessing. Instead she looked up, confused and asked, "M-mother? What is wrong?" her tone was soft, and she looked slightly afraid at Alliene's yelling. At her bidding, her priestesses and Zennenn came in at a dead run. Zennenn arrived before any of them though. Seeing his mistress's expresion, he wisely remained silent.

"Nothing, Zyaevl, I'm just a little upset. Not at you." She assured the elf. She glared at her gathered drow breifly before adressing Zennenn, "You have my permission to kill your half-brother. However, you must wiat for the opportune moment. I won't have you running off to get killed."

Zyaevl nodded "Yes Mother" she replied. Zennenn's smile was dark. "My thanks, Mistress." he replied, and from his tone, Alliene could tell he would obey her completely, as usual. Such an obediant male.

"Of course. Now leave, what I wish to talk of next does not concern you." She glared at him until he left then sighed and scowled at her priestesses,
"Apparently the goddess the fool abomination is partly involved in this. Shar spoke of her anger, hatred, and fear for me." She smirked, and so did the priestesses. A demi-god of any kind would rightly fear Alliene, "Shar told me that the golden one forsook her and has interrupted some plans she had for us. I believe if we are shrewd in our next steps, we can easily crush them to the ground."

Zyaevl's eyes went wide and she asked softly "Calaethis did what?" she looked totally shocked, and then she swallowed and sat down on the floor, not speaking again, afraid of Alliene's wrath. One of the priestesses spoke, ignoring the child's outburst, "What are your instructions then, Mistress? How are we to proceed?" she asked, waiting for Alliene's commands.

Gus suddenly wrenched in pain and fell over, dead. It seemed he'd lived for far too long as it was. He was 31 in common years, but for a Genasai he was more like 93... He wouldn't really be all that missed, as his body faded away back to the plane of Shadow...

Arlyth awoke after a while, and he tugged gently on Alae's nightgown to wake her. Once she'd woken up, Arlyth snuggled up to her and whispered, "I'm sorry to wake you, cousin... but... I... my dreams. They... are full of questions..." he sighed and the top of his head brushed against her breasts. "Alae..." he began, "Might I ask you something...?" he paused, and looked up at her eyes, ignoring her bosom. "Why do you hold me so? I... I was under the impression that only lovers shared beds... or between close family members - to sleep." he paused, "Have you ever shared your bed with another? A lover I mean?" he asked, ignoring the fact it was a very personal question. He seemed, more then slightly curious and by the sounds of it, he was asking more deeply then just making smalltalk. He sounded, almost wistful, as though he were asking an elder sister for advice. Alae guessed that it hadn't crossed his mind he was in bed with a female - at least, not in that way. If it had, his manner was odd for one who was thinking such.

Alae yawned, then blinked at Arlyth's question,
"If being with me makes you more at ease, Arlyth, than there is no problem at all. I used to sneak into Alaerth's room sometimes if I had a bad dream. Not anymore of course." She smiled, then frowned, "No, I have not had any lovers, nor has Alaerth. We have to be careful about things like that. It isn't good for reputation if we had lovers. Any lover we might have has to be looked at as a potential husband or wife, and if they don't cut it, then nothing will come of it. Why do you ask?"

"So there are drawbacks... to power I mean." he paused, and looked up at her, "Why do I ask? Because... I don't know. I guess I just wanted to know if... well, your 'other half' would be jealous..." he grinned, "Although, he'd have to be petty to be jealous - after all, I am only your little cousin..." he paused, "You have thought about it right? One or both of you would need to sire heirs..." the younger elf shrugged.

"Of course we have thought about it. But like our mother, we would like marriage to be out of love as well, not mereley political. But we are young, and have plenty of time to worry about that later."
