It's a whole lot closer to the 'tolerant and loving religion' than the other, but like *all* religions, INCLUDING Christianity, is subject to fanaticism and interpretation. This is something we need to keep in mind. Read the Bible and you can find at least one contradiction for every other line (it would seem) or differing interpretation which is then used to justify action xx despite the admonishment of book y, line z.

The Taliban is an extremely radical fundamentalist faction of Islam, *not* mainstream Islam. And they will never 'give up' their cash cow, bin Laden.

If this has already been answered, sorry. I'm still slogging thru the posts (and loving every moment of it!) trying real hard to not hit the reply button every third one or so (ok, so I hit it this time...)

Argue with : 3 1/2 weeks is a short time to come to any recourse. It is hasty action we take. We could have sent Jesse Jackson, or Jimmy Carter, or at least tried in some fashion, instead of making threats and demands which is most undiplomatic.[/b]
Correct me if I'm confused, but I seem to recall it being reported on the news that the idea of Jesse Jackson representing a negotiation parlay *was* suggested and he said he was in no way interested. (Or was that just some weird dream of mine?) Diplomatic treatise instead of the action taken? Not enough space here for that response. Back later.

Argue with: "thou shall not kill" and "do unto others". And dont go quoting other scriptures, thats dodging the issue. My sunday school teacher use to try that, feel sorry for her having to deal with my " dont bow to authority without question " self .[/b]
I won't argue with those points. They belong to your belief system and as such should not be 1) discussed (ie debated) and/or 2) pressed on those to whom they may not apply.

The weapon is ony as smart as its programmer--just like computers.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it goes pear-shaped and people lose their cool.
And I have seen posts from Liliara to Diogenes that are almost word for word what he said. He was doing her no injustice, as even Liliara will concede, I think, though I believe he would have been wiser not to have said it!

I know him a little bit now - enough I think, to say that he does not consider himself to be mentally or morally superior to anyone. He IS intelligent. I do NOT think he is always right. He is sometimes very hasty, imo.
He DOESN'T want people to 'bow down' before him, he wants people to THINK, rather being driven by the emotion of the moment.

And yes - he DOES say things that make me cringe sometimes - but don't we all?
He's a nice guy.
And I like you, too!
Us arrogant people should stick together, lol!

Thank you, milady Fljotsdale. And you are right, it would have been wiser not to have made that comment . . .

Righteous! Memnoch! No, really? Do I come accross as thinking I'm righteous??!! Ye gods! I must do something about that..

*now... shall I do lots of spamming...? shall I swear a lot...? shall I relate episodes from my wicked youth...? Hm. Must think how I can dispel this notion of Fljotsdale being righteous....*

You must admit, though, that it will be difficult to dissuade us from believing in your righteousness after that awfully low score on The TEST!
