" That would be most appreciated Liam, not that I have any fear of the hooligans from the other day, but a peaceful rest would be nice. It may help mend this little wound of mine better ." |

Candle Team
I will assume that Andrion told Roderik the results of the spell that he cast, and now his plan to aid Silt in discovering a secret in the other room. As the mage cast the spell of discovery, he learned more of the composition of this strange protective barrier that Larry had built to safeguard what they all supposed was the candle. Knowing the room next to tihs one was filled with illusions, Andrion cast a True Seeing in order to learn the truth that this room kept hidden. This is what the spell made available: The room was filled with small stones and rubble. These stones were piled up in similar fashion as the gold had been. Large boulders took the place of large chests. Rotting wood took the place of exqisite furniture. Nothing was worth looking at in this room except for one small box in the corner, where before-hand...there had been an illusionary wall. Upon opening this small box, a note was found, with the following written upon it. |

Andrion Wilgor
May your shadow guide the way. Andrion read aloud. He looked down on the ground to see which direction his shadow was pointing in and started walking that way. |

Roderik
Let your shadow guide the way... hmm, I wonder." The bard looked back at the light behind him, and raised his hand, letting the shadow fall on the door, then pantomiming pushing it, he reached toward the door, as though to have his shadow push the door open. |

I am very proud of Roderik, who figured out the clue! You will be rewarded.
Candle Team As Roderik attempted to use his shadow to "push open" the door, instead he felt his hand go icy cold as his shadow-hand actually passed through the strange material. His hand felt as though it was touching something then, although his hand of flesh was not touching anything. Guiding his shadow hand around the object that he felt in the icy cold, he assumed that he now had the item in grip and closed his hand in the air, though this was mimicked by the shadow hand. Then he pulled his shadow hand out of the stone. When he shadow hand appeared in the hallway, it was holding the candle. Roderik removed the candle from his shadow hand, as though the candle were afloat in mid-air. The candle is black, and normal-looking. One can tell that it has never before been lit. It stands upright on a plate of gold. OOC>>>Roderik...you have received 6 points of cold damage as your arm was submerged in the shadow door. I will have your reward points counted up soon. If there be a special request you'd ask for, be thinking of that. Else I will assign you something. |

"By the Dark One's root canal, that hurt." He took the candle and examined it for arcane markings, traps or anything else that would give him an indication of whether it was real or false. If it were a cleverly built decoy or poisoned it would do no good to find out too late. [ 06-09-2004, 12:41 PM: Message edited by: Morgeruat ] |

Silt 80/80
Silt watched as Roderik pulled the candle from the door, watched as he got hit by the cold, and continued to watch afterwards, studying the candle intently. "I think its safe enough to say that this is the real candle" Silt mused, "now let us be off, I am not too keen on this place, and I have a feeling there may even be some other dark things around, we never did take the corridor along the second floor. I think we should make our way back to the tavern where we shall wait for Larry and the rest of the Necklace team, unless they are already waiting for us."

Liam The tall man gave a debonair bow, smiling slightly. "My home is yourr home," he comments, before leading the group away from the busy and crowded streets, and into the darker, dirtier side of town. Some shifty characters eyed the group, but kept away once they spotted Liam, as if they recognized him. After awhile even the disintegrating and seedy buildings gave way to more open, airy land, with the occasional cute cottage dotting the landscape. Walking a little longer, the group finally reached an ominous, wild looking forest, crowded with creepers and undergrowth. Even the picturesque woodcutter's hut gave wide berth to this untamed jungle. Reaching the edge of the trees, Liam turned around to face the group. Strange calls and noises echoed out from within. "Stay close to me, the forest is a very dangerous place if you are unfamiliar with it, nor known to its inhabitants," the handsome man warned. "Even the farmers and most travelers avoid going through here, for it is rumoured that a man-eating tiger has claimed this woodland as its territory." As he turned back around it almost looked like he smirked for a moment, but his tawny eyes remained emotionally blank and unblinking. Luckily, the group had no dangerous encounters or brushes with death, although it felt as if they were being watched from time to time. Liam seemed unbothered by it all, and casually strolled deeper into the depths of the wilderness, not following any apparent path. When passing a small glade, more like a niche midst the large acreage of trees, which contained a large Willow tree and Silver Fir whose branches interlaced and twined with each other, the tall aristocrat paused for a moment, glancing quickly from the trees to the group and back to the ground in front of him in a mere fraction of a second. Shifting slightly he appologized in his strange accent. "I am sorrry that this is taking so long, I am not used to taking otherrs with me to my... habitation." His gaze was now decidedly avoiding the small alcove with the two trees. ooc- pm Larry |

![]() ![]() Lyulfe Lyulfe matched her smile with a wry grin of his own. "I have had my own personal experiences with bumbling people, and while my safety is often in question, I have learned that they usually hold a great amount of power over many threads in life's tapestry. I think it's some large joke of some god or another, making a bumbler have so much control," he commented drily. "But, I'd rather be at the center of it all, having some effect on the outcome, then be on the sidelines and having my hand forced, wouldn't you?" Knowing what her reply would be, he extended a gentlemanly elbow with a bit of sarcastic wit, considering their location and circumstances, before leading the way through the lighter corridor. ooc- *observing surroundings...* |

her eyes glow faintly in the reflecting shadows from the leaves of the two entwined trees, as she tilts her head thoughtfully from Liam to the trees and back.
A small smile plays upon her lips and she softly touches her staff to the ground, and leans casually against it as she whispers.. "Interesting forest... and tale to go with it. I'm quite sure we are "safe" from this lurking man-eater though. I have a good feeling about it..." She raises one hand higher on her staff, using her forearm to cover the silent laugh playing about her face..... |
