Ah... Silver Nitrate, yes. I've heard of it, never worked with it though. said Ivan smiling. Good to finally know someone who knows a bit about chemicals. Ivan smiled again. Oh and in your travels, did you come across any strange elements or potions? said Ivan curiously.

"actually yeah, I once found this stuff called sulfuric acid... simply amazing stuff... Didn't taste the best but I'll tell you... I sure cleaned out my track after a few swigs of the stuff!"

Ivan just shook his head. You drank sulfuric acid? And here I thought you were smart... said Ivan shaking his head. Well, I suppose we all make mistakes, even if they are incredibly stupid. said Ivan smirking.

The kreen chittered to the drow matron "I and my kind do not need rest, I shall be on guard and do some light hunting to replenish my foodstores. The Thri Kreen then disappeared into the brush and went hunting.

Gus started the campfire with a small portal spell and started to hum a melody completley unfamiliar to everyone, at which point he then lay on his side and started to drift off to sleep.

ooc-colin theyre at the base of the cliff, not the edge
"Don't eat the horses!" Alliene called after the kreen, then sat down on a rock near Alaerth, who was sitting cross legged with his eyes closed. Alae swung her leg over and slid off Star Shadow, treading across the grass until she was slightly in front of him, then sat back on her haunches, "Imagine, little cousin, being brought your whole life with teachers who told you drow were evil, drow were vile. Scouts have witnessed drow raids, and say it is true. Imagine finding out your mother's sister was a drow, seeing her for the first time with her cold dead eyes and wicked smile." Alae glanced back at Arlyth, then drew her sword, pressing the pale blue steel to her forehead as she closed her eyes, "Imagine, if you can, fighting in a war. Seeing the greedy light in your enemies eyes as they charge you. Friends you've known for life cut down in the most gruesome ways right in front of your eyes. Hearing the screams of thousands of people as they're murdered, the king as he almost loses his arm. Imagine winning that war, with only thirty of your warriors left." Although Arlyth couldn't see her face, her eyes were shining red at the memory, "Imagine looking out at the thousands of dead bodies. Hearing people with death at their backs cry out your name for help, people who depended on you, killed for you, and died for you." She slid Isan home and stood, facing Arlyth, "I held my brothers hand as the life bled out of him and pooled beneath his body. I thought he was going to die. He almost did." Her voice grew cold, "Do not think to tell me I cannot imagine your pain when I stood among the dead." Alae plucked a piece of grass and twirled it in her fingers as she watched a black dot in the sky grow larger as it came towards them, "But things change. Alliene is drow, yes. But she is different. She loves me and Alaerth for one, she loves Avalon like a brother, and loved my mother. Drow do not love, she tells me, but she is not like other drow. I have learned this and put my prejudice of what I thought of drow behind me. This you need to do for Xvim. What happened to your brother at the hands of her spiecies is tragic, but you cannot blame it on her, just like I cannot blame the drow raids on Alliene." She peered out at the horizon, the black shape had taken a more definable form, and wings and a tail could now be seen. A wyrven, perhaps? "And the taunting won't stop until you stop snapping at everyone and taunting them in kind." She added. The black winged creature loomed closer, and Alae felt dread in her stomach. No wyrven that, but a large black dragon! Why hadn't Avalon caught its scent yet? Hearing no sign of his coming, Alae ran forward a few yards, away from the cramping expanse of the cliff, "Stay there!" She yelled at Arlyth. The dragon gave a screech as it grew closer, as if it recognized Alae. She swallowed. Her skill in swords was not yet good enough to best and old black. She only had one chance. Closing her eyes, she dropped into a light trance, seeking the core of her power within herself. She found it and unleashed it. As Arlyth watched, where once stood his cousin now stood a large silver dragon. The silver spread its wings and reared on its hind legs, bellowing out a challenge to the black, who was now only a few hundered feet away. The black stopped and hovered above Alae, out of her reach, as if it was confused about this hostile intent. Hearing the roar of his sister, Alaerth jumped to his feet in a flash, Alliene right behind him. They sped off into the woods towards the roar. |

Arlyth sighed, unsurprised at his cousin's transformation. Sighing again, he sat down crosslegged, and somewhat surprisingly, obeyed his cousin's "Stay there". Sitting down, he considered her words, and then reflected upon his pain. His soul, torn in half, Alae could not have known that he was linked to his brother's mind, able to hear his thoughts... he had never truly been alone... until his deth. |

Alliene and Alaerth burst through the tree line next to Arlyth. The two stood stunned for a moment, and then a draconic growl rumbled in the prince's chest.
"Don't!" Alliene shook his shoulder, "Thats Zachana. Come with me." Alaerth frowned in confusion. Alliene had often spoken of her familiar, but he had never met her. That would explain why Avalon hadn't come out, he had recognized the scent. "Alae! That is my familiar, Zachana!" Alliene shouted when she was close enough. "What? Zachana?" The serpentine head angled from Alliene and her brother back to the black, who slowly dropped to the ground and assumed her human form. A beautiful figure with jet black hair to the knees and pale yet smooth skin, "My lady Alae, forgive me for startling you, I forgot that you have not met me before." The human dressed in black and silver finery bowed deeply. Alae grunted and dropped to all fours. Alaerth put a hand on her massive foot, "Transform back, sister. I will catch you." Alae nodded, "Nice to meet you, Zachana." In a blink, Alae in her humanoid form appeared. She stumbled, and Alaerth caught her in his arms. The princess immediatley passed out in his embrace. Alliene took Zachana's arm, "I take it by your presence I'm needed back?" The dragon nodded, blinking her inky black eyes, "Yes, my lady. One of our high priestesses discovered something...disturbing about the defeated house." She paused and lifted her nose, sniffing the air. She followed the scent and spotted Arlyth, "Interesting. He smells and looks like the golden one, yet it is not. An offspring?" Alliene scowled at her familiar and Zachana jumped, "Wait here, Zach, I'll go get my things." The matron trotted back to the forest. |

Arlyth looked up at the black dragon, and addressing her directly, replied, "I would prefer that you not address my father as such, but yes." rising to his feet, he bowed deeply to her, and sat back down again. "I would greet you further, but I've been told to 'stay there', so I assume that I'm not supposed to move." his lips curled in a slight half smile.
