Zennenn grinned again, "Thank you Mistress." Then he looked up from his bow and added, "You are more worthy then that bitch ever was... it is an honour to serve you." he smiled and asked, "By your leave? I don't want to keep your daughter waiting too long..." his grin was vicious.

~~~
Arlyth smiled, "Thanks" he said genuinely, and settled against her, shuffling somewhat. He sighed, "I've been so tense... I didn't know my shoulders and neck could sieze up so much." He sighed again, deeply. "Guess its the stress." he paused, "I hope Alliene didn't..." he sighed again. "But I wonder what she wanted with it..."
Alliene made a face, "By all means, go to her. You don't want to be ounished." She watched him leave then took the amulet to her room so she could examine it and keep an eye on Zyvael.
"I suppose we will find out when we find out, little cousin." Alae rubbed his shoulder.
Zennenn's grin was dark and vicious, "No doubt she'll do that anyway, Mistress... just not in the way you mean." with a smirk and a bow, he left, returning to Loanna's chambers.
~~~

Arlyth nodded, "Yes, yes we will" sighed, and nestled against his cousin's shoulder, just content to be in her embrace. Gently, he reached up and touched her hair, and played with it. "So... what was it like when your mother was still alive?" he asked with a sigh, "I never met her... father occasionally told me bits and pieces and when he did, his tone was filled with admiration, love and affection for her..."

~~~
When Alliene returned she found Zyvael asleep. The girl stirred and awoke when Alliene entered, and she looked at her, and patted the bed next to her, her eyes pleading.
Alliene had been intent on studying the amulet, but figured what the sword had to say was probably important. She took a seat next to the elven girl,
"Yes, Zyaevl, what is wrong?"
Alae smiled fondly at the memory of Verloren, "Things certianly were nicer when mother was alive. She was an excellent ruler, as well as a mother, and the whole kingdom benefited. Father was with us too. We were a family." She sighed, "She taught Alaerth and I how to sword fight the same way she taugh Alliene. She didn't have time to develope our skills though, she became too old to teach us after awhile. Well after she died, we were just old enough to take rule...but it's never been the same without her."
Zyaevl looked surprised, "Nothing is wrong Mother" she said, and sitting up, held out her arms, wanting to be taken into the Drow's own. Shyly, she said, "You used to hold me in your lap... as a sword I mean." she paused, "Whats that?" she asked, meaning the amulet. Taking it from Alliene, she held it in her fingers, and looking thoughtful continued "It... has a magical aura, Mother. I wonder... perhaps it could be used as a scrying device... for a location..." she paused, "I'm not quite sure, Mother." handing it back to her, she waited for Alliene to hold her, or otherwise reply.
~~~

"I can imagine" Arlyth replied with a sigh, "I'm sorry I never knew her..." he hugged her again, and sighed, then his eyes widened "She taught Alliene how to wield a sword?" he seemed slightly shocked. Then he snuggled against her. "Mother... was always nice to me. Father... well, he wasn't like anything Tagnik showed me of him. He was always... stern, strict, responcible... almost as if there was some wieght on his shoulders. They both loved me though, and my brother... and then my brother was killed." he sighed, "I never had any other siblings... and I was alone. I grew up by myself... almost." he sighed, "Despite that, both mother and father gave me an excellent education, and taught me how to behave at court... and to ride and other stuff." the boy sighed. "I always hated being able to change into a draconic form... and now its gone. I feel like a part of me is missing, but I don't mourn it. I feel... much better. Happier. But... I feel like I've lost an edge as well." he sighed, then looked at Alae. "Would you... would you teach me how to wield a sword? The way you do? Father taught me a different style..."

"A sword is a good deal easier to hold in my lap than a full grown elf, Zyaevl. Just sit here with me, and we'll look at this amulet together." Alliene started seeing how it could be activated to scry.

Alae laughed, "No, my mother did not teach Alliene sword play, merely perfected it." She looked thoughtful, "I suppose I could teach you our fighting style, if youwish. Alaerth or Alliene would be better though, they are much more skilled than I."

Zyaevl sighed, "Yes Mother" she mournfully, and contented herself by leaning against Alliene's shoulder and snuggling up beside her. As Alliene was examining it, Zyaevl reached out, and poked it. The Amulet opened up, revealing a silver spider inside; a cocoon, and spider silk. Zyaevl swallowed, the spider still entombed in the amulet. Looking at Alliene she whispered, "Perhaps thats what you need to scry with, mother? It might be poisoned though.." she cautioned, then snuggled against her, and looked up earnestly seeking her approval.

~~~
"I'd like that" Arlyth smiled, "I'm.. I'm not sure I'd like to ask your brother for instruction. He might go beserk..." he whispered, afraid. "And Alliene... I suspect she wouldn't wish to concern herself with me..." he shrugged and sighed.
"Good job, Zyaevl. I will be careful with the spider. If it bites me, go find a priestess." Alliene carefuly plucked the cocoon and silk from the amulet, the gingerly lifted the spider between her forefinger and thumb, looking at it closely, seeing if she could feel any magic about it.
Alae smiled, "Alaerth is a good teacher. He helped me with some finer points of fighting. He only goes berserk when angry or threatened, and it's easy not to make him feel that way. I suppose you're right about Alliene though."
Zyaevl smiled, happy at Alliene's praise "Thank you Mother, yes. Shall I find Sui'aerl?" she asked. Alliene felt no magic about the spider, though, when she pressed it, the broch opened, its outter shell splitting in two. Inside the silver spider was a tiny gem; red. Possibly a ruby. Curious...
~~~

Arlyth sighed, "Didn't seem to take much earlier." Arlyth sighed, "Sorry Alae, that was uncalled for. Its just... I get the feeling Alaerth doesn't like me much." he whispered.

"Sui'aerl will be good." Alliene frowned at the ruby and dropped it into her palm so she could examine it more closely.

Alae shrugged, "It's not that he doesn't like you, Arlyth. He is a leader, and he's always been known not to get attached to anyone. Except for me. Even when mother died, he didn't shed a tear or grieve for her. He doesn't like to let his emotions impare or create some bias in his judgement."
