"Leave me alone" he mumbled. "I tried appologising to Lord Avalon... and he threw me against a wall." Calaethis's head was still buried in his pillow. "Alliene hates me... she hates me..." his voice was one of tortured pain, and with bitterness he snarled "She treats that dog better then me.. why did you bring me here? Why couldn't you leave me to die?" he moaned, "I... deserve death... I... don't want to go on... I've caused too much pain... my actions are unforgiveable... and..." he looked up at her, his eyes tearful, and pleading, his face tearstained. "I loved you, and her -" meaning Alliene " - and even... Avalon... you were family... and I threw that in your face, and caused you more pain then... then..." he broke off his eyes overflowing with tears; though cleanched teeth he spoke;"I'm pethetic, I'm a sniverling little elf wretch... I allowed myself to be used; a pawn - and because of that, I caused you more pain then I could ever atone for in a dosen lifetimes... I hate myself for what I've done..." his head hit the pillow again, this time, his face on the side. "..why did you bring me here...?" he asked softly. "To beat me? ...or... t-to for- no, you would never forgive me... and even if you did... she wouldn't. I deserve everything I get... and more..." he didn't even look at Avalon; he didn't address Verloren, he just stared blankly into space - his voice held no self-pity in it - only self loathing.

Verloren brought the flat side of Isan down hard on Calaethis's behind, the ice jolting through the blankets and his body,
"Indeed, you did throw all we gave you in our face. Perhaps my sister may not forgive you, but that is her way, and she is drow. Mayhap I can forgive you, but you have yet to tell me the guiding motif behind your actions," she thrust her scimitar into its sheath and crossed her arms. |

Calaethis griminced with pain and flushed embarrassed. "So... you punish me as you would a child..." his tone was slightly thoughtful, and confused as well. "But why would you want to forgive me? I... I don't understand." he appeared genuinly confused. "...I've wronged you and dishonoured you too much - for you to even consider it... I..." his time around Alliene was clearly showing. He sat up, wincing as he did so. He looked her straight in the eye and asked "I'd beg your forgiveness, but... I fear Lord Avalon here, would throw me against a wall again..." he closed his eyes. "My... my things... have you taken those as well? I... am no longer dressed for... I am not wearing my chain, nor is Tagnik strapped to my side... I... am clad only in nightclothes, and not much more."
He grew quiet, all of his tears run out. Looking at Verloren once more he asked, "Why do you wish to know my motives? Is it not enough I betrayed you, your trust, and any love you may have had for me? And why would you have any reason to believe me anyway?" his tone was soft, and held no challenge in it, only a vauge curiosity. He sighed deeply. "...I would say 'I'm sorry', if it would make the slightest bit of difference..." he laughed weakly, "Yes, I'd say 'I'm sorry', and you'd turn me across your knee and spank me soundly, perhaps with the flat of your blade, or not, and everything would be all right again. If only it was that simple." he dropped his eyes. "I... motives? I had none. I... only felt very angry and a need to lash out. I couldn't help myself. It was if someone was forcing me to explode... I... don't know. I don't even remember. I only know I screamed a lot... and... well.. I don't remember." his tone was genuine, and nothing in his eyes or voice said he was lying. He had no reason to. Calaethis sighed, and whispered, "I never asked for this; never. I was happy... I never asked to become this..." he shifted into his draconic form; fully armoured, but without Tagnik. He held it a moment or so, and changed back. "If you wish to know what I was doing the past two weeks - I cannot tell you; save, I was being taught how to control this - by a priestess... a... priestess of my former deity. I no longer worship Her. She did this to me; made me this demi-dragon... She awoke my blood... and She... caused my outbursts, causing me to forsake you, and Alliene. But... those actions were still my own. I am responsible for them, as I am for being manipulated and for being used as a pawn... I have nothing more to say, other then... despite this, I still love both you and Alliene as kin... and would gladly give my life a dozen times over for each of you; and despite what you may think of me... given the chance, I would undo this, but I cannot. Whats done is done, and I have damned myself by my own hand." he paused, and whispered. "She lied to me. She promised everything would be the way it was before..." |

Peering down she grinned at the man, the smile widening even further after spotting a small steel ring in the sage's left ear. "Wonderful day, isn't it?" Skye asked cheerfully, leaning back against the bark. The sage looked up from the puppy, who had been sniffing his hand inquisitively. "Yes indeed. Although I prefer the city and the large buildings of learning housed there, the country always has a pleasant air," the sage agreed amiably. "I'm not surprised Lord Lyulfe enjoys traveling out of city bounds so often. Skye jumped down with surprise. "Lord Lyulfe?" she spluttered, then raised an eyebrow. "Well well, this is a surprise." The ageless one actually looked embarrassed, and shuffled his feet a bit. "Was somewhat of an accident, actually. The people have taken a shine to him though. Much kinder hearted then their, ahrumph, previous lord," he cleared his throat. Skye rolled her eyes. "So kind of him to tell me. What am I, a sidedish?" The sage fastened his eyes on her, one eye golden brown while the other a wierd steel gray. "Had Lord Lyulfe sent his chancellor, you probably would be," he remarked with slight mirth. Dusting his robes off, he turned on his heel. "Any messages before I head back?" he asked over his shoulder. "Tell him to make sure to visit me sometime, otherwise I'll go and make a bigger fool of myself then I already am," Skye jested. "Now, you best leave before Lord Avalon sees you on his land." The sage turned and looked at her sharply, but she had already begun her trek back to Verloren's manor, puppy in tow. Whistling a merry tune, Skye strode into the garden. Making an offhand salute in the direction of Alliene and grinning cheerfully at the drow, she made her way to her rooms. "Time to freshen up, I think," she said aloud to herself, rubbing a streak of dust off her cheek and succeeding in spreading it across her nose. Aeris and Malar walked back up the stairs from their sparring match-which Aeris had won. As the they walked up the stairs they bumped into Skye. Hello Skye! How are you today? Malar has a big smile upon his face. Aeris's eyes fixed on the puppy following her. Who's the little pup with you? Aeris bent down and scratched it behind the ear.

***OOC - chosen a kit for Tyra - a ranger kit - "Guardian" - only she doesn't have a domain - description for class - http://www.phonon.net/adnd/ranger/ranger04.htm - instead of protecting a specic piece of land, I think she'll protect ppl instead... weapons she'll use are a quaterstaff and a longbow; nothing too fancy.
Tyra sighed. She was bored. Walking the hallways of Verlorens eastate, she headed down to the kitchen. Maybe one of the guards would show her the armoury so she could practise with a weapon to pass the time - maybe train with Aeris and Skye. She felt so useless at times. Wandering along, she bumped into Aeris and Malar. |

"You just explained yourself, wrymling," Avalon spoke up from beside the door frame, "Likely we would have left you where we found you, if my cousin had not seen this goddess of yours confronting you," he crossed muscular arms across his cehst, "If you're motives were not your own, then we believe you can redeem yourself. For once, wrymling, I can tell you are truly sorry," his silver eyes settled on Verloren, who made a shy smile.

Calaethis's voice was filled with bitterness; "What does it matter? Even if you did forgive me, Alliene never would... and shes all I care about..." his voice was quiet, "I'm sorry, that was uncalled for." He rose to his feet. Not meeting Verloren's eyes, he continued "Besides... what would be required of me to redeem myself? ...Too much, I fear. And it would be pointless, since no matter what I did, she would still hate me." He closed his eyes. Another time, in another place, he would have held out his arms for an embrace. Now he would not. "Why did you come and find me?" he sighed. "I was, am truely sorry, but... whatever I may feel is irrelivent. It no longer matters what my motives were - only that I acted how I did. I am damned by my own deeds... and now I cannot even slay myself, because my very sword defies me!" Tears appeared in his eyes again; and he would have hugged Verloren, but out of respect, he held back.
Suddenly he smiled; "Ah, the perfect solution. I betrayed you - that makes me a tratior. Your a queen; so by definition, you should have me executed." Calaethis smiled happily. "Yes, that would work. Then I would not need to confront Alliene, and I would not have to live though this torment anymore." he conveintly ignored the fact that he was still a child, and wasn't one of Verloren's subjects. "No, it would be easier to die, and end this misery, but... it would not undo the pain I've caused." he sighed. Verloren would probably hit him. "A request... perhaps you could take Sylquis under your wing and train her, as you said you would at some point... and perhaps make sure that Tyra was cared for also? I feel it would be best if I left. No doubt Alliene's already raging that you brought me back..." he sighed again. "Perhaps it would be best if I left..." his eyes downcast he continued, "I'd have to face her sooner or later if I stayed, and I could not ask you for protection... or sanctuary. Depending on what sort of a mood she is in - most likely, she'll ignore me - or try to kill him." Still standing he asked, "...and do you think she feels anything for me now? Do you? No, I think not. I am a disgrace and should not even be here..." he closed his eyes, and flinched, expecting a blow. |

"I cannot condone my sister for her feelings about you, Calaethis. Her honour and pride runs deep as bone, and...well, I am not drow, and could not hope to understand," she folded her hands over her stomach, "I will not kill you, nor will I let you throw yourself to your death, or by any other means. Perhaps you should face Alliene and explain yourself. I believe that you can be forgiven,"

"I do not." he replied stubbonly. Alliene's influsence had obviously spread further then she'd first believed. "I would... not be able to face her. Assuming she did not gut me as soon as she saw me... which would not be such a bad thing." he paused. The he looked at Verloren again, "So, you are not drow, nor are you like your sister... how would you believe I could atone? I damned myself, I have forsaken my family and my deity, and you believe I can yet be... what, saved? Why? Do you still hold any feelings for me?" he dropped his eyes, still distraught. "You treat me as a child, and yet... it is so much more complicated then that. I have become a monster." he looked pointledly at Avalon, "'Wyrmling' you call me... I suppose you are right." he addressed Verloren again. "Why are you going to this much trouble to save me? It's not like you'll ever embrace me again, or even treat me as family."
