I don't think we ran out of sages. I just think that now we call many of them 'Professor'.
 Others, we call 'Creative Consultant'.

Ha ha... I think you're right... Instead of old, bearded men in robes living in a tower somewhere, we have old, spectacled men in dumpy clothes living in communes of similar people instead...

Professors are not to be confused with Technical School Instructors, though.
I have known several sagely professors, but not a single person at my school (unless maybe I'm counted) is anything close to sage-like. B/c, it is after all more than just possessing information.
