I wanted to reply to your pm Morg, but your pm box is full. In short, what you proposed is ok for me.

Right then so Zevin's special skill is an ability which using Morg's words and my quantification:

something like a semi-permanent effect that causes those who casually view Zevin (ie not focus on him or spend time interacting with or watching him) would see him through a sort of haze, like a heat shimmer, and that he would be remembered as being larger than he really is (I'll be happy to write up a lengthy backstory to explain this) the main problem is I don't have any idea how the cost in mana would be paid or explained... perhaps it fails if his mana drops below half of his maximum total and always costs him 10-15 per day to maintain. (in addition to not holding up to scrutiny) It just seems like the kind of vanity Zevin would exhibit.
And the quantification is that it costs 75 MP for him to use and lasts a week. Not too useful in the current situation, but might come in handy later.

Time for an update on the special skills:

Jonal:

Silent as a fox: He can suppress the sounds of his movement and actions. The skill has no initial cost, but for each five minutes while it is active it uses up three MP.

Ghar Dien:

Forceful Mutation: If Ghar Dien doesn't have enough mana to cast a desired spell, after detracting the mana from the spell cost, the remainder of the spell cost is inflicted into Ghar's health. The feature is only useable when using spells from Ghar's own specialisation school, and when the target is himself. No healing spells can be cast in this manner.

Zevin "the Juggernaut":

For 75 MP can make himself look shimmering and larger than his real size. Lasts a week.

Taryness:

I think a special skill is the least problem Taryness has now...

Bruner:

DEAD

Tiva:

Can enchant arrows, given quantity per day, certain enchantments, needs some clarification.

Lorax

Roar of the half-minotaur: He lets out a powerful roar, costing 15 MP, which stuns everyone in a certain radius, with effect decreasing going outwards and lesser behind him.

About the spells: I have had some time to think about them and have come to the following conclusion:

The game is supposed to be freeform. I feel that if I added fix spell lists to the game, it would take away a large part of this away. The HP and MP were only added in the beginning along with the basic stats so as to be able to feel what your character is like a bit better.

I would propose that there be no fix spell-system. Apart from not needing several hours, maybe days of thinking, equalising power and all that from me, IMO it would greatly simplify the game.

However I am not the only one concerned by this, so I would be interested, whether the casters in the game would accept running with this system, meaning occasional consultations (would not be necessary, I would be happy also with a system, where you post what you do and how much MP you think it would cost and if it is very far from what I think it should be I would ask for an edit) and possible corrections. Very rarely it could happen that I judge that you do not have enough MP for what you wanted to do, then I would maybe change the magnitude of the spell or ask for an edit.

So to cut a post getting long short, would the casters (currently Tiva, Ghar Dien and Zevin along with DM characters) agree to a system like this?

Freeform magic? Sure, why not. Atleast Ghar Dien ill never be cheated out of a good spell just because he has no mana

I need to know more about the layout. How many of the enemy are there, and what do they have on them? Two priests...and at least one swordsman is what I am seeing at the moment.

So far there is Brother Hazzan ahead of the group, a magic-user to the left of the group (not necessarily a priest), and a swordsman behind the group (he moved out after killing Bruner, who was at the back). You can also see an archer to the right of the group, but his bow is at his side. These four are all you see for the moment.
