Zhydo'rah

The air over the swords takes on a dense and shifting aspect swelling, it would appear, against invisible seams. There is a flash of light an angry red in color accompanied by the stink of brimstone. The light flares and is soon gone, but the stench of burning sulfur remains and squatting where the swords have been placed is the hag. Greedily her fingers entwine themselves around the twin hilts of the blades. "Yes," she cackles, "fight against me for it makes the horror I have for you so much the sweeter ....." Like the grated of pieces of broken glass against each other her words cut against the evening air as she sounds the tones of some blasphemous speech not of this plane nor of these Forums. The great blade Chrysomer screams in pain and futility as the other blade, that of blood silently grows fluid and seems to pour itself into its counterpart.

ooc: As per your PM - post away and bring this to completion.

Rhianneth

She inhales deeply, stretching her fingers out as far as she can, in the childish thought that this alone would repel the numbness that has assaulted her senses, as she has seen it done to her companions.

Suddenly, the ground seems to be gripped by tidal rock waves, shattering the momentary peace and sending the entire area into a heated dance of cacophonic chaos. With an effort, she grips her staff and shoves it against the rumbling earth, steadying herself and pulling whoever else was on the verge of tripping.

Something is about to happen... what, I wonder... Glancing at Brendon, she waited for his command, then looked about to watch for any immediate signs of new danger...

Arcades stirs and looks to at the dusted remains of the banewolf, moving his attention to Rhianneth, Aya, and Brendon, bowing his golden scaled head respectfully, the sounds of their conflict and his sense of the SpiritSword's power having stirred him from the dulling effects of the Hunger

Are you three alright? I was suffering side effects of an attack upon me from the Hunger

ooc: Sorry about the lateness

Anarrima never heard the voice of the dragon nor saw the momentary victory that had been granted while her and Ruby were given a few more minutes of life to suffer. Anarrima was frigid and lay collapsed upon the ground, shivering against it and unable to do anything about it.

Brendon was glad to have fought a good fight. He no longer had much faith in the future, nor to even help the druid face the Hunger that had been awakened on the other end of the field just now. These mere minions of death had robbed them of life before their mission could be completed.

He heard the dragon speak from seemingly far away and looked over at him, but was unable to talk. He looked over at the newly arrived Rhianneth who had attempted to help him bring the wolf down with fire but had failed, and now was returning his gaze. He could say nothing, for he heard the howls of more banewolves somewhere close by. The sound brought him back into a terrible feeling. He finally lost the ability to stand and fell to his knees. No longer having the strength in his arms to pull back the bowstring, he settled for grabbing for two arrows, one placed in the ground beside him and the other grasped tightly in his hand. He had no other weapon, but if it came down to it, he would fight until death with this arrow in his hand.

He took the few remaining seconds alotted them to breathe deeply and prepare for the final battle. he never even looked over at the druid still fighting with the horrible power of the Hunger. Doing so would have only costed him his remaining ounce of hope. He still held onto that one ounce.

Feeling the words form soundlessly upon his lips, he whispered, "Myron...where are you now?"

Echo realized that the mission was under the darkness of doom. With the giants nearby, and more hounds about...there was no way these gathered here today would have hope of winning.

Then the Hunger began to stir.

"No! The Hunger that brought forth the dawning of the death of Master!...of Master...Master!

I cannot be here!...be here!...here!

Rhianneth...you have failed the Master, and now I must go...must go...go..."

The Echo left Rhianneth defenseless against the audible sounds of the Banewolves.

Reaper

The Hag was busily working her magics, the blades flowed together like drops of water, merging becoming something new. With a dark smile and a hateful glare at the creature that had caused him so much pain over the time she had been inside his mind, he could think of no greater repayment. His hand went up, tearing the arrowhead amulet from his neck, the chain tearing bits of his flesh with it, he then brought his arm down, striking the hags unguarded back. Doing just enough damage to draw blood, for that was all the magic required, Surprised pain turned to fear in her eyes, as the very essence of Larry's blackened heart, twisted by his own darkness infected her, drawing a piece of her life force into it.

The sword, now merged and still glowing from the demonic dweomers dropped to the ground as she frantically tried to claw her way to him, screaming in rage. But he scooped up the blade, and pressed the arrowhead into the pommelstone joining it with the blade, then bringing the evil blade about and striking the Hag with it, as she lunged for the Fallen One's throat, with a flash of darkness, and a blast of rolling thunder echoing from the sword, the hag vanished, and the sword glowed with blackness, a palpable darkness, that was more than an absence of light, it was the essence of loss, entropy and betrayal. It took a few minutes for the dark knight to recover, and pick himself from the ground where he landed, and by the time he reached it, the sword had already cooled.

Picking up the sword he felt many things, a bit of his own soul was imbued into the blade, lending strength to his will, keeping in check the raging of the Night Hag, and the madness of the former Holy Avenger, corrupted by darkness, as
Reaper had been. The personalities would eventually lose themselves and merge with the strongest of the two, most likely the Hag's, but her treachery was repaid in kind, and that alone made the Fallen Paladin smile with the first true happiness he had felt in a very long time.

OOC>>>Very smart gaming there, Morgie! Very smart!

Myron...Myron...My...!!!

Although Brendon's body was partially paralyzed by the fear of the grave, his mind still wandered and worked...trying to find a way out of this, and all he could think of was Myron...Myron...magic...Letter...Myron's letter of the Hunger...he knew how to stop it...he told us...He told us...HE TOLD US!

He looked over at Rhianneth, who was still looking his way, she now desparing for his own weaknesses in this battle.

He tried to speak to her and the dragon both.

"He told us...letter...Myron said thun...thunder...storm....light...n..ing!!! Light...Rhian...stor...there!"

He pointed in the direction of the Druid who he had yet to even meet, but assumed she was with the dragon and that she was an ally since she was facing of against the Hunger that was being risen from it's slumber in the ground. He then took a little courage in his heart from this revelation and was able to twist around and get the backpack off of his back to begin searching through it for something of use before the other wolves and giants appeared. Saithele had left some of his belongings behind and Brendon hoped that there might be something in this pack he overlooked.

OOC>>>Brendon wants Rhianneth to attempt some type of lightning or storm attack that would aid the Druid in fighting the Hunger that is befalling her. He knows that it was their main goal, not wasting time with the wolves or giants, though a big enough storm might keep the giants at bay for a little while so they can deal with one problem at a time.

Meanwhile, his excitement in the discovery of this idea has leant him enough strength to tear into his backpack and search for a clue in Saithele's left-behind stuff. He has laid the arrow down that was in his hand to do so, of course.

Brendon finds nothing of value in the possessions that he took from the dead companion except the sword that is too heavy for his weakened arms to hold up so he throws the bag to the ground and picks up his arrow again.

The Hunger

It seizes and with a horrifying relentlessness pulls and snatches away what it grasps, and that which has been taken falls screaming into an emptiness whose silence is the terrible soundlessness of non-existence. Souls that had longed for release and escape from their imprisonment in the sword discover to their horror that release even after so long and painful a time is not always something to be desired. Willing or not, however, they are released into a consuming destructiveness from which there is neither escaping nor returning. Attacked in this manner by the Hunger the Modding Mage himself broke free only at the cost of doing great violence to himself. And so here the woman whose throat is caged in silver sacrifices that which had protected her from the banewolves. The clasp is destroyed and there is a movement of within her as of a gathering of dusky clouds swollen with rain. The shield which had settled externally over her now, for a time before it dissipates, has settled within her and such a shield is one through which even the Hunger might not reach.

Still, its grip on the sword is strong, strong enough that a few scattered seeds suddenly stretch new roots into the soil and beneath the earth siphon life from away from that which destroys. And for a moment at least things hang in a balance of equal pulls.

ooc: This moment will not last long. A strong and decisive movement should allow TAO to resheath her sword and break the hold of the Hunger for the time being. Spiritsword has been drained of at least half of the lives trapped within it – which, if I remember the sword’s history and nature correctly, might actually be a good thing. It is possible that a soul or two will simply be released into the Forums as a result of all of this.

The Banewolves

One by one they have come and together they arrive, mournful howls keening in the darkness. The shadows have grown long and from the shadows they leap forward teeth longing for prey. The first of them bounds directly to the dragon while the others rush to the place where the woman stands locked in terrible struggle with the unseen Hunger. They do not reach her, however, for from the dusky skies above them owls arrive in silent aggressiveness – dozens of gray owls that move in untroubled flight through this troubled air. The damage they do is small for claws such as theirs are unlikely to harm creatures so strong as these, but the distraction they bring is great and for this moment at least the woman is protected.

Arcades -The banewolf missed in its attack. The initiative is with you.

The owls have engaged the other 2 banewolves.

She struggles to her knees, and with a screaming howl, she sheaths the SpiritSword, slamming the blade into the ancient metal binding it once more to slumber, trapping the Hunger for the time being...

She takes a quick moment to smile then sees the baenwolves approaching... lifting one hand see conjures a mage globe of pure light preparing to use this when the owls arrive..

Sending a thankful plea to them, she lets them know what she is about to do, and turns her attention to the group in the clearing...

"Arcades!!!! To me!!!" She yells, and with one hand upon the ancient oak, she swallows the single blade of grass, and raises the globe above her head.......

Flashes of lightning hit the ground around the clearing, gaining with intensity....

A large blue bolt hits the group, surrounding them and their possessions in a bath of light and they are whisked out of sight.........

Another large bolt of gold hits Arcades, sending him into the oak also......

looking around, her eyes have taken on the intensity and strength of the globe she bears, and with one final look at the owls, a bolt of pure green takes them to safety also......

standing alone in the clearing with the wolves, she snarls once, and stepping into the oak she slams the globe on the ground between the stepping stones in front of the two banewolves bathing them in electricity.....

The group has been sent inside a special portal known only to her and Arcades, whisked to another oak in a spot between the break in the ley lines, and this spot... We will not have long to regroup our thoughts and plan, but it should be enough time for you to shake off the effects of the banewolves calls.......

She steps out of the oak into the clearing, and shakes her head at the puzzled looks around her....

Stepping up to Arcades she lays an ungloved hand upon his neck, and looks to the group.....

"Welcome to the last battle...... I am KayLisa GreyWolf, and this is Arcades.....

If you have any ideas or plans, let them be known now, for we do not have long... The Hunger will not abide being idle in this sword for long... and the giants will find us... I am planning on it...."

Her eyes continue to glow silver, and she looks to the branches, finding the precious owls

"Welcome and my thanks for hearing my plea, my friends... I need your help....
