Final Score,
Turkey 3 : South Korea 2( Gee, they scored while I was typing. Respectable score, and bravo to the South Korea team for determination and a 'never-say-die' attitude. Pretty cool too, both teams are now marching hand-in-hand around the stadium, with a Korean player paired to a Turkish player, bowing to the audience.) Next up, Germany vs Brazil Technique vs Flair Grim vs Samba Stay tuned. ![]() |

Heh, watching the end-game celebrations by both Turkey and South Korea. Very sporting by both sides, with the crowd cheering both teams on at the medal ceremony. I do not know how to describe the feeling I get as I watch them, but it is a magical feeling. |

Yeah, that was goiod sportsmanship by both parties. Credit to the Turks, they played some great football in this World Cup and deserved to win this match. Sas, Ilhan and Emre have had a great tournement. Hakan Sukur now has the record of fastest World Cup goal ever and after this match Rustu Recber must surely be the best goalkeeper in this World Cup. Too bad most most of these guys are near 30 and we probably won't see them in the next World Cup or even Euro 2004.

Brazil haven't shown an awful lot of jogo bonito in this tournament so far...unless you count games against also-rans like Costa Rica and China. In the crunch they have been very pragmatic in their play - their only real creative force in midfield is Ronaldinho, the central duo of Gilberto Silva and Kleberson are Dunga-type holding players (not too dissimilar to the "typical" German player, if you think about it). What differentiates Brazil is the fact that their front two are probably the most dangerous in the world.

I think it means "beautiful game". Anyway I still support Brazil over Germany if only for those flashes of brilliance and the fact that they actually play entertaining football. It would really be a blow to the beautiful game if the Germans won.

"La jogo bonito" means beautiful game in Portuguese (which they speak in Brazil). It was first coined as a phrase to describe the way that the Brazil team of the 1950s-1970s played - with players like Pele, Jairzinho, Rivelino, Tostao, Gerson, etc.

Actually I think the England squad only has itself to blame for that game but I could probably drag on all night criticizing the English team.....

Meh, I suppose the team can be blamed, but while there is still a chance to see their conquerors defeated, I will cheer on for that chance and relish it if it so happens.
![]() Thus my temporarily fake, and without soul, support for Germany! Go Germany, Go! Get them Brazilians! |
