"Um... Okay..." said Ivan nervously as he placed one foot inside the portal and stepped through to the other side. He turned back and looked at it, and waited for his new friend to follow.

The portal suddenly vanished just as gus passed through it with his arms in an akward pose...

"he didn't blow anything up did he?" he quickly asked and then looked around at everyone, who appeared normal, before returning to a normal stance.

"No, I haven't blown anything up yet..." he said as he looked up at the genasai. "So? Introduce me, well it would be kinda hard considering you don't know my name yet, I'm Ivan Po'tain, and you are?" he said smiling cheerfully.

"Oh right, I'm Gus... Quasai Genasai of the Void and these are the people who I met when I was summoned to this world..." He then raised a hand to show the others.

"Everyone, I have found a chemist who specializes in making things explode, I think he could assist our party in combating the terrible descending darkness..."

If looks could kill... well, they can, in the form of a medusa... but if Arlyth's looks could kill, well, they'd be one less void genasi. In an acidic tone of voice, he asked "Plan on telling all those you meet on where we are headed, and our intentions?" asked the young elf, his tone literally dripping with venom. Muttering under his breath that only elven ears, or those with elven blood within them could hear, he hissed in elven, "Bringing him was a mistake... I hope he doesn't get us killed..."

Gus whispered to the Gnome "Don't worry about him, he's always like that..." Gus stood up again and stared at the perpetually-angry elf. "Strengthe is best found in one's number of allies, Why else do you think things get summoned?" Gus retorted.

The elf snarled back, through clenched teeth "I have nothing further to say to you, genasi. Be sure to stay out of my way." then he turned back to his cousin and the Thri-Kreen, and snarled to the four armed mantis-humanoid like creature, "If we are to travel together... it would be best if we tried to get along... I suppose." it was the closest to an offer of peace/appology one was likely to get out of Arlyth, and if the Thri-Kreen had any sense/inteligence, it would realise the young elf's pride, particually if it had met other elves before. Then the young elf turned to address Alae, "Well dear cousin, will you allow this gnome to follow us?" his tone, was oddly respectful, and his eyes conveyed love for his cousin, and the Thri-Kreen would realise that the young elf would take orders from the female.

"Well, that sure was a warm greeting." Thought Ivan to himself sarcastically. "Well, please allow me to join you, I could be a good help. I can make potions that don't explode as well!" said Ivan eagerly. "I'll try my best to not get in anyone's way, please, let me help. Who are you all anyway?"

Edit. SG missed off the "t" of "thought", and had to go back and add it on. Meh.

Gus smiled and decided to go over and re-mount his steed.

"you can ride with me if you want..." He invited toward the Gnome.

Arlyth gave Gus a long look, "Alae has not permitted the gnome to accompany us yet, Genasi. Should you not wait for her approval?" the elf's tone held a not so subtly veiled threat within it.
