We didn't say it was hilarious. I never said I condone it. Let's lighten up a bit, if it was a skit on SNL and nobody was harmed because they're all actors then people would laugh. We laugh at videos of people falling down in a funny way even though they could be seriously hurt. Yet someone falling is initially funny to us - funny enough that we make reels of these things and show them on tv shows. We are obviously all corrupted then.

True... but there's a difference between collecting footage of someone falling and digging a pit in the ground to see who you can get to fall in. Candid Camera exploited our innate desire to see someone else be made a fool of, but drew the line at situations that would lead to bodily harm.

Consider me lightened up, though. My only complaint is with the low-life justification for retroactive contraception that put the stuff up there.

I can't lighten up on something like this, there's a difference between a prank and assault and they crossed that line.

How wrong and astonishing.

This might have been funny in fiction, if done right. Too late now, somebody done it for real.

Hi Spirit,

If it was a skit no-one would have been hurt.

If I see someone fall down in real life my first thought is "crap, are they ok?"
If they're fine and they are laughing, only then would I laugh.

I'm not hearing any epileptics laughing about having seizures or facing near death (who would?). The whole situation is not funny at all. Humour at someone else's expense is not funny. The degree of how sick it is, is relative to the harm imposed.

I don't think this is funny because people got hurt. In fact, I doubt anyone has- if they have, they may or may not be sociopaths and should have this checked out.

However, I do think that people may be confusing finding humor with appreciating irony.

Well I can't speak for anyone else but I didn't know anyone was hurt until I read further into it and saw that seizures were a result. I initially chuckled at the concept which was used, thinking to myself "my god what will they think of next?" and then I read further. Despite popular belief, I wasn't cackling maniacally as I read on. Nothing else was mentioned to indicate laughing at anyones expense, but for some odd reason it seems that we have decided there was.
