They are just north of the entrance to the uderdark when you first arrive. As Dundee said, if you don't actually work your way up there, you will probably never even know they were there.

Hey, I remembered! I ran into them accasionly, and they didnt notice me - invisible I was! So I just summoned a Mordekainen's Sword and watched them die!

I could have sworn those specific mind flayers were harder. Most other ones i can kill in a few hits on my own with a brine potion or that amulet but these guys had me dead in seconds!
