If you are near Lynchburg, you are in a really nice area in Virginia, I miss it, grew up not too far from there.
All of Virginia is not like that though, trust me. Visit Alexandria where I'm at now, and your views will change drastically.

One of my earliest vivid memories of my family vacations was going to VA. I'm from OH where there arn't really any beaches, so we stayed in a fairly cheap hotel for a couple days and went to the beach where I learned how to boogy board, which was awesome, and went fishing off the pier. When I say cheap hotel, I really mean it, I found what was prolly a used condom underneath one of the beds. I was only 8 or 10 so I didn't know what it was, I picked it up to show my parents and they freaked! But we did get to stay in a pretty nice hotel for the last couple days. So, what I guess I'm tryin to say is that maybe New York and Virginia arn't that different.
