Faulty or loose cable maybe? Try switching the cable for a different one, or switch from analogue to digital?
Take a screen shot and paste it into mspaint. Do you see it on the screenshot when mspaint is using a smaller window to view it? If it's not on the screenshot, it's your monitor.
