That is the little bit that irks me. How is it that the Trojan field isn't "debris"? The Perseids? The 1323113 other asteroid fields that Earth passes through each year? So the Kuiper belt knocks out Pluto as a planet, but the Trojan field doesn't do the same for Jupiter? Why? Because Pluto's orbit is affected by Charon? Why not call it a double planet? You can't really call Pluto a TNO, since it's heliocentrical orbit is more ecliptic than Neptune's and crosses it. They could have just said "It's too small" and left it at that, I mean, they are calling it a "dwarf planet".

A "binary planet" would indeed be a nice term to put Pluto and Charon under together...

Personally, I think a mass threshold would be the best planetary measure, but I'm willing to accept their definition.

I just look forward to the day that I can sit in a rocking chair and look down at a bunch of youngins and say, "I remember back in the day when we had 9 planets".

For sentimental reasons, Pluto will always be a planet to me.

My teacher in astronomy always told me that Pluto wasn't a planet!
I just laughed at him and said, why are they calling it a planet then?!
My bad! ;/

bye bye Pluto!

My sister is going to sit for a very important national exam soon. I wonder how is she going to answer if this question pops up. "How many planets are there in the solar system?" 8? Because that's the latest news? Or 9? Because the current textbooks said so?
