A guy I know in the security field degausses the drive thoroughly with a strong magnet, then burns the platters, then stores the ashes in a secure filing cabinet.

Sticking it next to a Dyson hoover on full blast would probably do the job actually...I bet that motor puts out a heck of a field! |
