I have three outdoor 6 month old cats who I couldn't never really claim as being 'mine', since they are basically their own independent beings. Even if they do rely on me for food and meow at the door when hungry.
But I do consider them very close pet friends.
One of them even climbs the security door and attempts to open it if I'm not being attentive enough.
Their mother was a frightened stray who I gradually befriended and fed any scraps I could find. At first she was the dutiful mother to her kittens, but as they became to take most of the food/attention she has come to resent them and doesn't hang around as much any more. I'm coming to see her kittens as like 'her' gift to me.

I've been a cat person my entire life.

I used to have a dog, but she was too hyper so we had to give her away.

2 mixed breed dogs and an aquarium

I want to take care of spiders, inguanas and the like... but then it takes a lot of time and they are high maintenance. Used to have guniea pigs.

I think my ferrets were the best pets that I ever owned. Mad as hatters, very cute looking and friendly as anything.

Bit smelly until we lopped off their knackers, but sorted that in the end.
