The city I live in, Edmonton, has no smoking or non-smoking section. People can either smoke in the restaurant, or they can't. Its very nice, because most of the restaurants I go to, have the former rule

Heh... pretty one sided poll so far

I don't really smoke either. I tried it for a couple months in high school, but I wasn't a huge fan. I still smoke the occaisonal cigarette though.. probably about 1 per month at most. Cigarettes are too expensive, they smell bad, and it's annoying to have to carry around a pack where ever you go. I've moved on to smoking hookah instead. It's much more enjoyable than smoking crappy manufactured cigarettes with all sorts of chemicals in them. Hookah is very relaxing and the tobacco actually tastes and smells good.

I am here to even out the polls.

I am a smoker and has been smoking for the past 10 years. I smoke about half a pack a day or more if I am extremely bored. I don't know about other smokers that you are talking about and as for me:

1. I don't smoke in front of my daughter. In fact, there is only two place in the house where I smoke - The toilet and my computer room.

2. I don't smoke in the public except for lounge and opne air diner - anyway most people smoke in those places anyway.

3. I don't even smoke in my car unless I am driving long distance.

Why I smoke? Don't know; but I kind of enjoy smoking. I know if I have decided to quit I could probably do it but right now I am not considering that at the moment.

There are two exceptions, when it comes to someone smoking around me. I love the smell of some cigars and pipes. Not sure which ones since not many people smoke those in public, but some are just as nice to smell as incense or a good cologne.

Some cigar smoke *really* smells good. I'm not sure exactly how bad it is for you though. *edit* As in how bad the second hand smoke is for you.

Ok, well, even I have to admit, I had a friend who smoked a pipe and it smelled pretty good... But I have never found cigars to be anything but disgusting.

IMHO, Cigarette companies are just big corporate drug dealers and should be shunned and treated just the same.
Like many I have lost grandparents to this disgusting habit.

If Cigarettes were discovered now instead of 250 years ago they would be as illegal as Extacy and Speed.

Just because governments make money outta tobacco it's still tolerated, ban smoking and cigs I say!

Rant over, By the way, in the UK we call Cigarettes "Fags", a different meaning in the US I think?.

Lol!
I had a very close friend in high school who was British. I remember seeing her one day walking to the store and I asked where she was going.
She replied "to get my dad some fags."

Yup it's the same thing as homosexual. Of course I don't think it's used very often anymore.
