Why would anyone with the option choose to play with a tracker ball? Mouse and Keyboard will get you through anything that dosent involve flying, whereas Trackball and keyboard gets you a sore thumb and *low* accuracy scores. (as in I get 5% of my normal hitrate with a trackball - I measured). By preference I use an old style opto-mechanical mouse. Cos a)Im cheap and b)pure optials have an extra 20ms latency on them.

Stick is the way to go in the air (or space) though.

Andrew - a trackball is basically a mouse upside down - you control it by moving the ball with your thumb. Its easy enough to work with, but for games it sucks.

My trusty Logitech optical mouse. Works like a charm on most games.

You are all being very, very silly. If you think all that you need to do is occasionally check my balls for fluff you are mistaken. I am extremely high maintenance and therefore I suspect none of you can afford to play with me.

Not really. I cannot cope with mice now, they give my wrist terrible ache with all the moving and my trackball is stationary. The ball is quite comfortable and it works fine in games, i really don't understand why people keep saying tracker balls are harder. I suspect it is because you haven't really used them before and are not accustomed to them. i play heavily on the computer-10 hours a day, weekend-and therefore the wrist ache this causes is immense...in the old days when I used a mouse. My trackball eliminated that ache.
