maths is a useful skill no matter what you plan on doing, besides, it doesn't hurt to keep your options open.

Wow DS, you're really on a roll bumping up these old posts again, aren't you
On topic: Much as I hated maths class (actually, that wasn't so bad. It was the homework and the tests I didn't like), I'm convinced it was useful in the end and shouldn't be made optional.

Beaumanoir - I really can't stress the importance of the subject. Thay at least should take it until grade 12 high school so they have a feel for what they wish to do with their lives. As well if they don't then than may lose many options later on in life if they decide to change their career as it will be diffiult to catch up. Even for musicians, math may find a use at some point as room acustics are very important and at some point you may wish to learn more on the science of the subject to provide better sound. More jobs than accountants require math, almost all sciences require at least some math, engineers, doctors, soldiers, programmers, all need math or use it at some point.

Most importantly it helps even with little things in life such as doing out your Income Taxes and I doubt any one gets to avoid that as it is one of the sure things in life.

It's like the Rockman said: "You don't have to have a point to have a point."
Obleo finally understood that to be true and I'm sure that you will as well.

I don't like Maths. I don't think many people do. However, it does provide you with skills that you will need later in life.

Maths will be needed in any subject you want to study later in your life.
Even if you don't want to study, maths will help you not to be fooled in everything you do...

Do You See The Point In Maths Lessons?

I remember a decimal point although I never saw its point. I'm just pointing out that it's a pointless point.....have I made my point?

Yes. I used to believe otherwise, but after going to school to teach it, I see that mathematics teaches people far more than just the topics themselves: logic, organization in thought, reading and in writing, precision, tenacity, the ability to break down real-world problems into something solvable, etc.
