Bungleau, my post was not one to be taken so seriously nor as the main point of this conversation...I was not wanting to distract from the main focus point, but since you've asked I will certainly oblige with an answer.
Without wanting to do the research to back-up my post with literal examples, please let it suffice to say that there seems to be a trend that when something gets passed somewhere in some state, the other states worry that their own state will start having crazy people start coming out of the woodwork to push for those idea at home. What I was saying is that people in Florida, North Carolina, and everywhere else that like this guy's idea in New Jersey may try doing their own version of it in their own state once they see any chance of success. I am not saying that the guy will have success, but neither did I expect South Dakota to pass an abortion ban stating that incestual rape victims could not abort. Well, that stupid law DID pass, and now people here in NC are scared to death that some crazy law will get passed here that will mirror S.D.'s new law that was signed today. It only takes one court success to start a nation-wide change of laws. My "joke" of a post was to say that in time, we may have to worry about other people pressing the laws in a similar direction, and eventually Florida may be one of those states that would decide to try it in their own courts, especially if they are fueled by the success of NJ's idea...if it were to somehow be a success. Knowing how polititians rule the world with money, if there is money in this somehow for some jerk...the law will be bought. That's how NJ law can affect IW. That is why I made the silly comment that Ziroc should have contact with his lawyers to help protect the website, because at the time, it sounded like a funny thing to say, eluding to the idea that sooner or later, Florida will have a quack of a lawyer try some strange law that will threaten us someday if New Jersey inspires an idea to be born in a Florida resident's mind. How's that?

This reminds me of a line on the West Wing. Charlie, the President's Aide, has been in a sour mood since learning he was the target of an assassination attempt. He ends up talking to a janitor, who says something along the lines of:
"If they're shooting at you, you know you're doing something right." I'm thinking that applies to Freedom of Speech in just about any country that even pays lip service to it. Why should people have to reveal themselves. Anonymity is the greatest friend of free speech there is. Certainly the root of a lot of useless drivel, but that comes with the territory. Also, how freaking fragile do you need to be to be "harmed" by a comment on the internet? |

You know all those warez sites springing up in Latvia, Russia and countries without either laws against piracy or an ability to police it? Well, I fear that in the near future, the forums will join in.

I live in New Jersey and trust me, this is one royally screwed up state when it comes to Laws and Taxes. I would not doubt that some form of this bill gets passed in the future.

The township where I live now had a 25% increase in property taxes this year. No one can tell why the tax rate was raised so much, or where the money is going. |

Its going to get a whole lot worse, Seraph, because Gov. Corzine's advisors have said they are going to have to rev up the taxes BIG TIME. So not only have your taxes gone up, they'll go up again and again and again.
