Just watching CNN. There are estimated reports of 40000 dead, but the official toll is around 20000.

This earthquake is going to be very problematic for the U.S. monetarily wise. We are already going to spend a considerable amount on Katrina and then to send more aid to Pakistan/India. I think 2005 is the official bad luck year.

This is just crazy. I have no clue what action to take. Only that my thought are with everyone that is affected by this.

Update:

Humanitarian crisis worsens in quake region

In Pakistan, thousands of quake survivors in the mountainous north face death from cold or disease. Many of them are now homeless and cannot be treated for pneumonia or infections. Aid workers have made a desperate appeal for tents to be sent.

Even in the camps where the injured are being treated, the situation is difficult due to torrential rain.

The official death toll from the earthquake now stands at almost 40-thousand in Pakistan, and in India the disaster has claimed at least 14 hundred lives.

A Pakistan army rescue helicopter has crashed northeast of Bagh, one of the worst-hit towns. Six people were killed.
