Hehe, I'd have started shouting at the mom, something along the lines of "shut up you stupid b***h I just saved your little boy's ass, so next time I'll let him drop shall I?"

Yes. You could've. But i'm guessing that if something like that happens again, you won't be thinkin' bout possible bad outcomes. At least you shouldn't be. Do what you know to be right. And worry about other people's misunderstandings afterwards. Wear your battle scar with pride and try not to let it get ya down mate.

Sometimes the only reward for doing a good deed is doing the good deed. Did you catch him because it was the proper thing to do, or were you looking for the praise/reward? My guess is the it was right thing to do part is correct.

Try to put yourself in the place of the Mother. Looks outside to see a stranger holding onto her youngster in a slightly compromising looking situation? I probably would have over-reacted or asked what the (*&# myself...but I would have gotten the big picture right, too.

So...good job and thanks for saving him! (feel better?)

The boy was very scared, of course, but then all of the sudden a woman cycling by turns to us and says "Will you leave that boy alone!!"

Lucky for us, the boy immediately explained that he was the one being wrong
hahahaha, that reminds me of this time at school,
it was my friend's birthday so it was a ritual of giving him birthday punches. So we chased him around a bit and punched (not too hard) in the arm/leg. Anyway a woman stoped her car as she saw it through the fence and told us to at least let him fight back, but he explained to her it was his birthday and that it was another friend's birthday in a couple of days and he was looking forward to getting him back.
High school stupidity was great.

When I first read the topic name, I thought it was another of Vask's ravings.

You've seen anime, haven't you? Do as the stereotypical anime hero does - cherish the fact that you did the good deed and care nil for the recognition. If you think of it that way then hey, all the more of a reason to call yourself a hero.

Hrm... I think if I found myself in the same situation I'd be hard pressed leaving it at "stuff it". Heh.

Good job saving the kid, Burnzey. But next time if you are confronted in such an undeserving manner I would suggest explaining what happened rather than just leaving it be.

Some people are just rude.
