I had the exact same problem and the easiest way to get rid of it is to follow the instructions on this site
It works perfectly for me now.

Well guys, thank you for all the helpful tips, im afraid I found out what my problem was. On attempting to copy the 4 cds to my Hard Drive a file called 'CREAnim.bif' from CD2 came up as corrupted...it was actually at this point of the regular installation that the CD5 prompt would come up too. Simply a bug due to it not finding an intact file I think. I wonder does anyone know how I could get this one file...perhaps theres somewhere I could download it from..?

Copy every file bar it; then copy it separately.

Tried it mate, a good few times...it either freezes up or tells me the file cannot be copied etc. I think my only hope is to find someone who is willing to send me this one file, I dunno how it would work tho...

Have you tried running setup after you get the Cannot Copy File ??
Sometimes these files aren`t actually necesary for the game to run; it might just be a little slower or have some small details a little off colour or such

Lennon thanks dude It never entered my head to try that and when I did hey, it worked!!!! Well so far lol - I've left a tech post on the bioware forum to check just how important that file actually is. Someone did offer to send it me but it turns out it was bigger than i thought as the corrupted file i had appeared smaller (lost data) and right now im on a dial up connection (...) so it'd take too long to ensure a stable connection between two people.
Cheers mate for that great idea! So far so good.
Thanks to all for your great insights as always
