The specifics of any game will be entirely up to the makers. The potential for more realism doesn't mean we'll see nothing but games that attempt to be realistic. It just means that where the designers want an aspect to be more realistic, it will be. More options are always good

Half life 2 put its realism into certain aspects of its physics. Games like Rainbow Six 3 put realism into other aspects of the physics - yet the games do not have anything in common except that they're both shooters. In fact, the game with the older engine is much more realistic, because that's what they wanted.

It should give creative designers more options, which will pay off for gamers. Of course, it won't save us from bad games, any more than 3d does now.

I forgot to mention: I want one. Now.

Yep, like Lucern said... one shot one kill games like Rainbow Six and Operation Flashpoint I always thought of as the most realistic of the shooters... but it's because of gameplay not physics.

Now if they took the physics engine of HL2 (or better yet, a hw accelerated physics engine using this new chipset) and made a one shot one kill game... DAMN!

This has the potential to be a revolutionary jump in gaming realism.

As an example, I loved Operation Flashpoint sniper missions. I'd spend HOURS slinking through the bushes sneaking up on my quarry. The game was realistic because the world was virtually unbounded (like Morrowind), weapon damage was realistic, and you could interact with lots of things (vehicels, dropped weapons and ammo, explosives, etclll). With advanced physics the gameplay would be similar, but instead of sneaking through cardboard cutouts of bushes I could be sneaking through bushes that react to my presence, pushing out of the way, creaking as I pass (maybe giving me away). Instead of having a bullet that follows a basically straight trajectory I may have to compensate for distance and wind. The vehicles could react far more realistically, etc... the sky is the limit.

This looks to be a must have addition to any gaming platform (console OR PC). I wonder if the Xbox2 and PS3 will scramble to integrate it?

I loved OFP, some of the multiplayer missions where realy nice..

Looking at how they are touting it, it'll be more than just an extra processor tagged on, it seams like it'll have some memory too..

*Dreams of more complex games*
