First it was the ears, then eyebrows, noses, tongues, bellybuttons -- I tell ya, these piercings are getting out of hand...

Seriously, I'm glad he survived & hope he recovers well enough to enjoy the rest of his life...

Wow that's major, thanks for the links Absynthe. Amazing he survived. *shudder* thinking about what it must have been like for him.

AND Google does not instantly add news stories to its repositories, indexing takes time.
In my defense, Dace, 1. I didn't "just" google it. I use "google" as a term to mean that I used online search engines to authenticate the story before formulating my opinion. And 2. between finding *nothing* on this online and combining that with your source's vagueness in the stories you were posting, I drew the conclusion it was a hoax.

AFTER following Abysnthe's link, I see that this occured, apparently, on December 3, 2004. There *should* have been some verifiable online sources of that story by now but I'd never heard of dogpile which Absynthe used.

It really shouldn't have been that big a deal, though, that I thought it was a hoax. It's just my opinion. I didn't insult you personally, I just doubted your source and the validity of the story given the information I had to hand. I thought we were still allowed to state our opinions so long as they follow the ToS of IW...*shrugs*

Also, I've been "taken in" more than a few times by "incredible" news stories, so I tend *now* to be overly suspicious of anything presented online like that. I've rooted out many hoaxes and tend to be suspicious until I can verify stories like this.
