I came accross a situation once with one outlet on two breakers. Guess how I figured that out?

Heh, this reminds me where I fry my harddisk. I foolishly stick a wrong cable/wire to it. I mean it's all look alike anyway. what harm can it bring I though. nope, I was wrong. As soon I turn on the swicth and bzzztttt bzzzttt plus smoke coming out . the hard disk can never be used again

That was one of the things the electrician fixed for me. It's a legit setup in somplace like a kitchen, where the top row of plugs may be on one circuit, and the bottom row on another. That helps to spread the load better.

I discovered it when changing a plug. Third time I got zapped, I figured out that somehow, I must not have turned off all the power [img]smile.gif[/img]

how are the waveform phases altered? i didn't realise that was possible... well in a simple device like UPS.

I always call an electrician for things like that...you just reminded me why I do!

There are actually TWO different live wires coming into the house, and one neutral. The two live (black) wires have the same voltage, but are opposite in phase.

Like bungleau says, it's used to spread the load better.
