i don't know if there is a word for it. all i do know is it has never seemed to matter how much i say to her or around her she has gone backwards in her speech (which is why a hearing problem sounds likely.) she used to say kitty and doggy, they were a part of her first 5 words, now kitties and doggies are "arf" or "owf."

ty for all the congrats. i am just so excited to have her communicating! i don't care how she gets her point across, so long as her only tantrums are cause i said no, not because i have no clue what she wants and can't figure it out.

That's great she's making some progress, RR!

She must really want to communicate and the tape seems to be helping.

well we are back form her hearing test. she is fine. no hearing problems what-so-ever. i'm going to ask her speech therapist if maybe her speech going backwards like this may be because i took her off the bottle on her 1st birthday, and if her muscle's were underdeveloped then, the lack of stimulation from being switched tot he sippy may have caused it. i'm not trying to blame myself, just figure out why she has gone backwards.
